I couldn't do cream of wheat...I did blend a lot of things. but my favorite is taco bell refried Beans and cheese with mild sauce ....they sell it by the can at Wal Mart and I bought the taco bell resterant sauce. and added 2% cheese. yummy. I also liked the small curd low fat cottage cheese with a little black pepper on it. Mashed avocado was a change. I blended up tortilla Soup OMG it was divine. Good luck. I got to start soft foods yesterday. Its so nice to chew chew chew.

I am on stage 4 and I am 15 days out. It is weird because I can eat regular foods now besides veggies and grains of course. My first 3 days were Clear Liquids. Stage 2 was up to 7 days at full liquids. Stage 3 soft/ purée foods at 1-2 weeks. Stage 4, solid proteins.. I can't handle a lot.. Best food for me is snow or king crab. My belly loves that! Lol.

it's so funny how each doctor is different. I was sleeved 2/11 and I have to do full liquids until 3 weeks before I start puréed. Is it sad I'm counting down the days to cream of wheat/malt o meal? lol

I have to wait one week from surgery well actually from when I was discharged to move up in foods. I'm on clear liquids until Thursday then I can add eggs, refried Beans, etc. I'm starting to get actual hunger here bc Jello, broth, and Popsicles aren't cutting it anymore.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
