Well, they sell it in a huge bottle and this small one that I have in the picture, that smaller one was around 7-10 dollars but I have been using it on my face and my scar for longer than a month and I havent really made a dent in it.

My scars look like bruises and I'm five months out. Would medera help that?

BTW I used bio oil at the advice of a plastic surgeon on a severe injury on my wrist. My scaring is pretty awful...I look like a bad suicide victim LOL (but my cuts go up and down verses side to side). I have a foot long scar going from the middle of my hand to the inside of my elbow. It was very painful because of the debth of the surgery (I have donor bone, plates, screws and pins) so the healing includes a lot of the skin pulling. The bio oil was suggested because it is effective in softening the skin which reduces the pain. My scar is not pretty, but it's not red and awful nor was it ever after the surgery (well long term...I was in a cast for a couple of months). That scar looks better than the little ones on my stomach and I didn't have the plastic surgery on it (yet). It's good stuff. I would have used it on these scars if I wasn't too sick to care afterwards.

I bet Mederma would help. also keep it out of sunlight or get in the habit of running a little SPF along it. tanning and UV exposure really seems to make scars stay discolored longer

I actually just opened my first bottle of bio-oil today! Can I ask how you apply it? I attempted a qtip and then switched to my fingers but it didn't seem like much oil was coming out. What's the ideal way to apply this stuff? I'm using it on my face and incisions.

I didn't do anything fancy, I just rubbed a fairly large amount (maybe 7 good drops) into the incision and really massaged it in because that helps soften it.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
