Motivational sayings, quotes, phrases

Recommended Posts

I just wanted to share some of the phrases that inspire/motivate me. Some are lyrics, some are from movies and some I have no idea where they came from. What are some of yours???

"just keep swimming. just keep swimming." - Nemo movie

"Ain't no one gonna break my stride, Ain't no one gonna pull me down. Oh no I got to keep on moving...stay alive." - Matisyahu

"The stone that the builder refused will always be the head corner stone." - Bob Marley

"No one can make you feel inferior without your permission." - Eleanor Roosevelt

"Take care of your body. It's the only place you have to live." - Jim Rohn

"

and god help you if you are an ugly girl

course too pretty is also your doom

cause everyone harbors a secret hatred

for the prettiest girl in the room

and god help you if you are a phoenix

and you dare to rise up from the ash

a thousand eyes will smolder with jealousy

while you are just flying back." - Ani Difranco 32 flavors

“Success consists of going from failure to failure without loss of enthusiasm.”–Winston Churchill

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.

Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.

It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.

We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant,

gorgeous, talented, fabulous?

Actually, who are you not to be?

You are a child of God.

Your playing small does not serve the world.

There is nothing Enlightened about shrinking

so that other people won't feel insecure around you.

We are all meant to shine, as children do.

We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us.

It is not just in some of us; it is in everyone.

And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously

give other people permission to do the same.

As we are liberated from our own fear,

our presence automatically liberates others.

“The joy of life consists in the exercise of one's energies, continual growth, constant change, the enjoyment of every new experience. To stop means simply to die. The eternal mistake of mankind is to set up an attainable ideal.

-ALEISTER CROWLEY

This is my favorite quote - especially because of some of the reactions I've gotten from people when I mention about the VSG surgery:

"I have made the choices that work best for me. I know I cannot please everyone, and that's fine." - Marlee Matlin

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
