lynnpalm 0 Posted February 26, 2013 Hi. I was sleeved on 2/18 and feel the same. I am starving and craving everything I used to eat which is not good. I'm scared to death I'm going to overeat and this surgery be a waste to me which I desperately do not want!
johnlatte 1,232 Posted February 26, 2013 Takes a little while, but between the head hunger and the residual grelin in your stomach, you will, at times feel a feeling of hunger. A ppi helps a lot (nexium, priolsec etc.) Make sure you clear it with your Dr. before you start taking anything though

orthoman 114 Posted February 26, 2013 I am finding that the further out I get from the surgery, the less problem I have with hunger. I experienced hunger way more often in the first month after surgery than I do now (currently I'm two months postoperative). Your mileage may vary
vlynn77 0 Posted February 26, 2013 Thank you all for your responses. I'm happy I am alone in this.
amylu 18 Posted February 26, 2013 I was sleeved on 2/12, and I have hunger pain too. There was a couple of days where I had an almost constant gurgling and churning in my stomach that felt to me like hunger pains. I was so discouraged. I take prilosec every day and added zantac and even tums, and nothing worked. I called the doctor, who actually allowed me to add some soft foods to my diet. That helped. I still feel like I get the hunger pains around mealtime. I think it's the acid in your stomach, because your stomach is so empty, it churns and feels like hunger. Either way, its not fun! I hope it goes away!
sue8925 17 Posted February 26, 2013 My surgery was 2/11. I get hungry every 2 hours. And I think it is real hunger. I get full fast but after 2 hours feel hungry again. I hope it passes. It is not like before surgery but I still want food. Ugggggg
The Travel Guru 40 Posted February 26, 2013 I was sleeved on 1/2 and I felt hungry all the time as well. I thought it was just me until I found this forum (thank goodness) and then realized that everyone is different. My hunger has really not gone away, so I eat when I am hungry and keep my calories per day between 800 and 900 a day (as per my nut). I have learned tho, that Protein will full be up quickly, which works out perfect, so I make sure I get lots of protein's in, and I stay away from most carbs. I usually eat about six small meals a day. I am down about 36 pounds, and happy with my results so far.. I use the app 'Lose it" to track my calories.. So eat when you are hungry, its the choices of food that will matter the most..
Chaparra 85 Posted February 26, 2013 My surgery was 2/11. I get hungry every 2 hours. And I think it is real hunger. I get full fast but after 2 hours feel hungry again. I hope it passes. It is not like before surgery but I still want food. Ugggggg I was also sleeved on 02/11. I think the hunger every 2 hours is because of the fact that we were only putting liquids in our body. liquids move faster than solids through the body. I started soft foods today, and let me tell you, everything feels so heavy in my stomach that I can't eat that much at all.
The Travel Guru 40 Posted February 26, 2013 I also should have mentioned, since you are a Feb sleever, you might still be on liquids, or light foods.. When you start added more denser foods (proteins), such as deli meats (turkey), you will feel full longer than when you are on the liquids.. If you want a menu of my daily foods let me know...
