I'm sorry but human life and the ability to give people the proper care is more important to me then anything else. I know the draw backs but I think in the end it will be manageable.

Very wise words and especially meaningful given your current situation.

It's all a vicious cycle. I got really bad food poisoning and had to go to the ER for fluids back in December. I was there for a few hours, had 2 bags of fluids and some antibiotics. They also took my urine and blood.

Guess how much they billed? Over $8,000! I requested a detailed list of charges and they listed $300+ dollars for "pregnancy gel" which I can only assume is a pregnancy test, as I have never been pregnant... and it wasn't even necessary for them to test for that because it was my TOM.

Another example not related to healthcare... I had a pipe burst in my house in a wall between my garage and one of my spare bedrooms. My insurance paid their contractor to fix everything before they even fixed it. When they finally fixed it, they didn't do half the things they had charged for, like $400+ for "removal and reset of Water heater." When I called my homeowners ins to tell them that they were getting ripped off, they didn't care! But I still went after the contractor and told them to refund the money back to my insurance for all the things they charged for and didn't do. Yeah I didn't have to, but a $2,000 claim looks a whole lot better than. $5,000 claim.

How do Canada and Europe have centralized healthcare without it being so problematic?

The problem lies in the fact that the increase in health insurance costs is all to often more than the profit that employee brings to the company.

If a persons labor only generates $1500.00/week net revenue to a company then to pay that employee $600/week then you have to pay workers comp insurance on them $100, then you have to match their SS taxes, payroll processing, uniforms, etc 100/week. That leaves $700 now let's say out of that $700.00 1/2 of it goes to building rent, copy machines, supplies etc. Now we are down to $350/week.

$350/week X 4weeks/mo = $1400.00mo gross profit without health insurance. Now maybe you could pull it off today, but how do you pay a $2000+ health insurance premium with $1400?

Remember. There still needs to be a profit there too.

50% income tax rates, and rationing of medical services.

Have you not noticed the number of Canadians paying for their own surgeries in Mexico?

I will *immediately* regret posting to this thread lol but have you noticed the number of Americans paying for their own surgeries in Mexico?! Americans that have insurance and should more than qualify for surgery?

And I do regret it. Instantly lol. I don't do religion or politics, obviously this just hits close to home for all of us and no one has an easy answer.

What I find amazing is that the news is saying nothing about the problems! Increasing food costs, layoffs, downsizing, closing businesses. The US has lost any sense of reality...

Oh boy!! even I'm not that stupid to discus politics on this forum. Because look at the stupid **** that we fight about all ready!!!

But if I were so dumb as to state my opinion I would agree with Martin... But I'm not that dumb!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
