Nausea Meds. What to do when sick?

Recommended Posts

I went out of town for a few days and ended up sick. My phenegren is no where to be found. I have been heaving and am terribly sore. Did not eat anything today and could barely tolerate chewable tums. Drank my sons anti nausea medicine (OTC) and that helps for a bit, but not totally.

What do you do when you get sick? I used to take Alka Selzer, but don't know if that is ok with the band.

Oh BTW... Gumbo hates me.

I would avoid the Alka Seltzer, it would be like soda...very fizzy!!! I have not had the issue since being banded, but prior, when nauseated, I could take Dramamine...and it tranquilized my stomach long enough for the cycle of nausea passed, and it can be bought OTC...and even in chewable form I think.

If it gets worse, I would find an Urgent Care Center...they can give you Phenergren in shot, pill or suppository form, to get you settled down. Most insurances will reimburse emergency care like that without issue.

Most gumbo has rice, and many cannot tolerate rice....hope you feel better very soon.

Speaking of rice, do you think you have some stuck? Is that what is making you sick?

Keep us posted!

I left the rice out. So that was not it. I think the spices kicked my gut inside out. Will avoid it from now on.

I will ask for a list of OTC products from my doctor. Maybe that can help us all.

I carry phenegran at all times. I also have zofran with me when I travel. There are several anti-nausea meds on the market, some even in liquid form. ~Mandy
