Any savoury liquid breakfast suggestions?

Recommended Posts

I just made my husband and daughter a ham, egg and cheese Breakfast sandwich and the smell made me want something savoury to drink for breakfast so bad I can hardly stand it lol.

I've never been big on eggs, but ham and cheese .. mmm mmm good!

I feel like I'm going to turn into a chicken, I've had so much chicken soup/broth. Ditto on the veggie Soup and fruit.< /p>

Any ideas for a savoury liquid breakfast?

I don't do pork at all but my daughter loves thin oatmeal with tiny bits of bacon in it. ~Mandy

She also likes bacon and cheese cream of wheat. She only eats meat when we push the issue, she's 5, with a seizure disorder that requires meds that kill the appetite. So I take whatever protien I can get for her. I know that Quaker used to make a bacon flavored Cream of Wheat. Also bacon and cheese flavored grits. ~Mandy

Here is a list of flavored grits from quaker:

This is nowhere near as fun as Jack's suggestion, but the only savoury suggestion I have is something involving V-8 juice or Tomato juice...maybe like a Bloody Mary, but probably without the zip.

Does Clamato juice have Protein in it? LOL!

I used the heck out of my "magic bullet" during my mushie and liquid stage.

My doctor told me, if I could get it thin enough to suck thru a straw, the only things off limits were the "standard no-no list" ( ice cream, carbonated beverages, bread, stringy meats etc).

So as far as I'm concerned, the skies the limit. If it sounds good to you, go for it, doesn't matter if someone else thinks it doesn't sound good.

What about Tomato Soup? Add some spices to make it rich and thick.

Thanks everyone! As good as Jack's suggestion sounds, I'm not sure the DH will go for it LOL, so perhaps I'll take myself off to the American food shop and pick up a box of grits.

If you discover that grits do work for you [not everyone loves them], I have a way that would allow you to get Protein (eggs) into the meal in a much less noticeable way.

My band prefers liquids in the morning and I find Protein drinks don't really fill the bill. I make the grits fairly thin, add cheese scrambled eggs, season and then throw the whole deal into my Magic Bullet or blender. Voila! Tasty, savory, yummy! Next week, I'll be getting some unflavored Protein powder that I ordered. Maybe I'll add a scoop to the mix before blending to increase the Protein levels.

Let us know how grits work for you,

Jo Ann

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
