Hospital called to check up on me and I told them about the rash. The itching isn't bad and it isn't spreading so they told me to take Benadryl. Anybody else experience a little splotchy rash on their belly?

Since surgery, I have had random rashes on my belly. Once it was caused by rivets on my jeans even though I had worn those jeans for a while, and I've worn them since as well. I went to the doctor, and my rash was supposed to be an allergic reaction, but it isn't one that I had before, and I haven't had it since either.

I use a cortisone cream, and it clears it up. I've only had it happen twice since my surgery (not in the same place), and it clears up quickly.

I did...it was a reaction from the adhesive strips. It was very itchy & red sort of like hives. Benadryl & anti itch cream helped a lot.

Hope it clears up quickly!!!

Tape and dressings are often the culprit.....hopefully it will self resolve.

I developed a rash yesterday... I was sleeved Monday. Mine has grown across the entire length of my stomach. It itches like hell!! I'm afebrile. I go to the dr tomorrow so we'll see!

I've been using Benadryl and cortisone cream without relief... I'm nervous.

My rash is gone. Once the steri strips fell off and I was able to wash the rest of the adhesive off, it pretty much resolved itself.

My rash is above my incisions. My largest incision looks red too though...

I was told its the soap they use during surgery. If it doesn't get washed off right away, it gets trapped on your skin and causes a rash. At first I thought the redness was bruising. Then it started to itch so bad. I didn't really go near it in the shower because it was so close to my incision. Benadryl helps.

I'm hoping that's all it is. Benadryl is only helping with the itching. It seems to have spread too, so that makes me think it was the soap.

I will let you all know!!

Are you sure it's not Petechiae.. It can look like a rash, but is actually bruising

Doc said mine is definitely an allergic reaction, probably to the dermabond. I am starting low dose steroids today and come back in a week for a wound check.

I had a rash from the adhesive tape. I gently washed with dial soap and a soft washcloth and rubbed at the tape spot to get the residue off. I couldn't use lotions or ointments but I was able to crush a benedryl and took it.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
