I was eating 600-800 but have developed horrible headaches so I am trying to get closer to 1000 to see if that helps. I have continued to lose weight.

Depends on the structure under the fat, age, and activity. I'm almost 2 months out and my provider/nutritionist still want me over 1200 cal/day. It's tough, but it's going to be individual based on these factors. We're all different. If you eat too little you'll slow weight loss dramatically due to starvation mode and metabolic slowing....too much intake and ...well, we all know what happens then. Best advice is to be honest with yourself and keep track of food intake and activities...work with your nutritionist if goals are not being met. Small changes can have big effects.....my 2 cents. Best of luck.

My doctor said to eat 600 calories a day until you hit goal, but I'm averaging 900 a day.

I shoot for an even 800 calories but sometimes I fall short of that, sometimes I go over by a couple hundred, just depends how the day goes. My absolute max that I have not gone over since surgery is 1200 calories.

I am 5 months out. If I get in 900 calories a day, that's a good day. Is that too little? I don't know if I could eat more. LOL.

600 cal a day... I couldnt live! Lol. Each surg has their own plan. When i go back to see nit i am going to talk more about calories. Before it was just get in Protein. I could easily do 1200 a day but i feel thats too much too early, so will power! I always hit at least 800-1000. I am losing about 2lbs a week. Any less cal my energy would be so low.

I was really struggling with calories and carbs at first. I am five and a half weeks out. I'm doing better now that I am eating Protein dense foods. I find if I focus on getting 70+ grams of protein, for me that's between 600-800 cal and 40-50 carbs and 25ish grams of fat. My doc said this is perfect as long as I'm losing...and as long as I feel strong. He said not to worry about the calories as much as worrying about Proteins and carbs...you can only eat so much tuna and chicken and yogurt and eggs!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
