Doubts About Success?

Recommended Posts

Are there any sleevers here that, before surgery, doubted themselves or were afraid they didn't have what it takes to succeed? And if you're a year out or so, what has your progress been?

My surgery is in March. I'm having some trouble believing in myself. :(

i was sleeved wednesday. i had doubts before, i have doubts after.

i look at the doubts as a blessing. most of the time i'm confident, but every time a doubt creeps in my head i'm focused on recognizing it and keeping on the right path.

being too complacent spells trouble.

I know that given the data available I will most likely either not reach or not stay at the goal my surgeon wants, which is 150. My personal goal is 180, though I would be content in the low 200s as well. I think that as long as some of the weight loss is sustainable long term, I will be happy. It won't ever be easy, though.

I'm not a year out, but I'll put my .02 in anyway. I was afraid I would fail. I have tried to lose weight so many times and failed. I can't tell you how many times I've done WW, Jenny C, HCG, you name it, I've probably tried it. Of course, it was only temporary. I'd lose 20-30, gain 4o+. Up and down for more than 10 years. Finally felt like my metabolism was broken. Even the low-carb just wasn't working anymore. I lost 70 pounds in 5 months. And I feel like this is a way of life I can live with the rest of my life. I'm sure you will succeed too.

I had doubts, but even my nutritionist told me that after surgery, my stomach won't let me eat too much, which I'm finding out is SO true right now. One of the things that she also told me is that we were told at a very early age to always finish what is on our plate and that comes from previous generations not having enough food. She said it's something that I will have to work on. I'm finding now that she was right. I got upset the other day because i couldn't finish my 6oz of greek yogurt. I was only able to eat half of it. That made me realize that I have to remember everything she taught me about eating and when to stop in order to help prevent over eating.

Thanks so much you guys for sharing; I feel less alone in my doubt. It helps a lot :)

Ugh why is confidence so hard??? I just don't want to sabotage myself. Which is an odd fear because I'm the one who controls whether or not I self sabotage in the first place.
