So happy to hear that you are through the worst of the pain. You'll feel better and better every day...a trend that continues long after you get home. Congratulations, Amy... you've made it to the other side, and you will never have to go back to that fat misery!

Ps there were no naked people but I did see another person being worked on for a moment. In recovery I got to watch the screen of another persons surgery. Interesting but I was a lil queasy ATM.

Dr. Garcia took a pic of my stomach but I didn't want to see it yesterday. I'll look today or see if he can email it to me. :)

I woke up this morning in pain and nauseous but a lil meds cleared that up. I feel great now, bit i dont count on that to last.

I have the window open and hear the birds and see the sunshine. I feel really halpy. I could cry. Ive wanted (needed) to feel hope regarding my weight for a long time and i finally feel it. Hope.

I feel a lil hungry bit I think ya just acid.

Also, don't be alarmed if you wake up in recovery spitting old brown blood. Apparently that's normal. My first was pretty red. Also normal. And I did that all night off and on.

Eta- got a shower. That always makes me feel better too. I dislike figuring out unfamiliar hot/cold handles. Lol

Sip sip BURRRP. sip sip BURRP. Hehe

Getting to know my new little friend. He's got quirks.

I can't wait to get this drain out. I wonder of its because I have such a short torso that this thing is painful for me. Who knows. Should get it out tomorrow. Looking at what comes out of it makes me wonder where all that stuff goes on patients who don't have drains.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
