Debvzw 48 Posted February 24, 2013 I will be one year out on 3/6. My family has a nasty stomach virus going around that lasts for 3 - 4 days. I am scared to death if getting it. I'm scared of what it will do to my sleeve. So I was wondering if anyone had a stomach virus after surgery and did it cause any problems with your sleeve. Karee 8 Posted February 24, 2013 Yes! 2 weeks post op got the flu. I went 4 days with no food or fluids and had to get 3 liters of fluids at the ER and ctscan to ensure I didn't burst my staples. After the fluids I felt 100% better the next day
Ms.AntiBand 2,984 Posted February 24, 2013 Slightly over 2 months out now and just getting over the stomach bug today. I survived on Popsicles and nibbles of crackers, but other than that I lived. Ain't fun though!
TheGamer 406 Posted February 24, 2013 Had the norovirus earlier this month, a little more than 3 months out. Three days with no eating. Fluid intake was about 20-30 oz a day. It was probably the worst thing I could have had happen, sickness wise. Took me two weeks to get over it and then another week before I was back to eating heavy (read: not soup) food. No damage to the sleeve, though. Just seemed that the sleeve made my recovery time much longer than it would have been otherwise.
