kmb1983 2 Posted February 24, 2013 i got banded in aug of 2005. starting weight was 334.4. things went well for a while but now i cant eat and constantly vomiting. i lost over 100 lbs only to slowly gain some back. now sitting at 260. PCP wants me to have band removed and go with sleeve. never really thought of it. i have a pouch above my band and lapband doc doesnt do anything about it. so i made an appt to see a new doc in march. i am nervous. i have MVP healthcare and they are usually pretty good. guess we will wait and see
MelissaGG 9 Posted February 24, 2013 My band has been in since 2003 with little weight loss. I am starting to have complications and looking for a revision possibly. I am a little scared to go through with this.
PEvette 297 Posted February 24, 2013 I got banded in 2005 also...very very little weightloss...I eventually gained the 40 pounds I lost back, plus 20 more....I also developed a pouch over the top of my band...my doc was hoping that it would go down after he unfilled my band, but it shrunked just abit....what he did was started my VSG under where I developed the pouch...which means that my weightloss is a bit slower and I can eat a bit more than the typical patient...I'm just happy to be 98 pounds lost and still losing praise God! I revisied to VSG on 6/11/12 and I'm loving every bit of it....
kmb1983 2 Posted February 24, 2013 i am not scared just nervous to go through the insurance hoops again. i will be more scared once i get the final approval. since i am just starting the revision process it could be months. i am doing it for my health. MelissaGG 9 Posted February 24, 2013 My insurance covers the revision with a 6 month supervised diet. I don't mind waiting but if I have complications, the revision will happen earlier to address the complication. That is where I am right now, seein my surgeon for a face to face appointment on Friday. If you want to speed it up, which you should if you are having issues, please call a new surgeon and let them know what is going on. Complications can be hard to spot sometimes.
