Reached goal weight in 6 months less a day!

Recommended Posts

Here I am 6 months less a day and this morning I have reached my goal weight. My story is I had a revision on September 10, 2012 with Dr Fernando Garcia in Tijuana Mexico. Fabulous surgeon and the absolute best decision I could have made. I lost 60 pounds the first 4 months and now to date have lost 77.8 pounds.

I would like to provide some information to help those who would like to read on. I followed my eatinfg plan to a "T" as I was serious about being a success and reaching my goal.

1. To those who say, "it is not a diet". It may well not be but here is the but: you need to change your eating habits; I have read so many posts from those who still continue to chose poorly as in high calorie, non-nutrient dense foods. Most recently the post from the Gal 4 weeks out eating garlic bread with cheese and dipping sauce. Put yourself first and make sure you put some thought into your food choices first.

2. Make the most of your first 6 months. I really can only eat a couple ounces more at this stage but it maybe that going forward this will change. You have come into this for weight loss so again make the most of this time.

3. As for what you eat go low carb high Protein. You can incorporate more fruit possibly healthy grains as time goes on. Initially you are learning new eating habits so in 6 months you will be able to chose healthy nutrient dense carbs that make sense. I have not consumed bread, rice or Pasta and am not sure if or when I will. I make sure that what I eat is really beneficial for me as I can only consume so little. Protein, little veggie is my diet including yogurt.

4. Mix up your caloric intake every few days; I found that this really helped to keep my weight loss moving and my success.

So statically I am 5' 10", weight 180 pounds, wear a size 8-10 and a medium size top.

Size normal here I am and loving it!!!!!  :P

Thanks for the tips. I am always amazed when i read a post where some one has chosen surgery (not an easy option) and then eats things that are not helpful, and can actually harm. Why do that? I will never understand!

Congratulations on reaching your goal weight and well done.

I just wondered how you decided on your goal weight. I am 5'9" and my goal is 155 which is about centre of me having a healthy BMI. I notice that your weight still classifies as overweight. I don't believe BMI is all that important but was just curious what you took into account when deciding on your goal.

Thank you for sharing! Very inspiring and honest. I'm not sure if I'll be able to make every meal 100% "perfect" since I travel extensively for work, but you're dead on in that especially the first 6 months we need to make the best choices for our bodies.

I know I'm not going to waste my precious stomach space on bread, Pasta, cheetos, etc when I need to be eating something nutritious.

Congratulations on making your goal! I'm not putting a timeline on my weight loss, but I think like you, I'll be able to hit my goal before the end of the year - 76 lb total loss.

Amazon you are so correct....this is a life style change and the first 6 months are crucial. It is important to choose healthy foods and to change our eating habits because if we choose to eat those damn Cheetos, candies, etc, we will gain our weight back. The majority of us have an addiction to food and when we start, it's really hard to start.......Congrats on your success! Keep it up.... :)

Here's the thing when I first started the VSG journey I though, "Oh just to be under 200 say 195 pounds". I quickly changed my mind and thought lets go all out and shoot for 180 pounds which for me thought would be a good weight. So here I am, very little body fat and according to my plastic surgeon, not enough. I could care less about BMI. I have very little fat left and am mostly bones and hanging skin. To each his own but for me this weight and size is perfect!

I don't need to be a size 6.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
