I was sleeved on the 20th 5 days post op. I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed with the whole food thing. I was told my nutrionist to eat six small meals plus Water 64 ounces daily. Yesterday I downloaded an app on my phone to help remind me when to eat and drink. At times I don't want to eat but I find myself kind of forcing to eat at specific times so I don't eat too late at night. Then Im wondering what do I eat now I'm still on liquids which sucks not much choices. All I do is think about food and water. Anyone else feel this way! I also find myself mourning food like chips especially when watching a movie. Ugggh help!

Besides this I feel great no pain, surgery went well I'm down 6 lbs post op. No regrets!

Give your body and especially mind time to adjust. Your thoughts about food will take time to change. You are nearing the time where every day will get better. I'm 4 mo post op and feel wonderful. Give your sleeve time to heal. Look on the boards for stories of people further along to give you hope that things get better...they do. My sleeve is the best decision I could have made for my health. Good luck to you and it will get better. Take care.

sugar free Tropical Popsicles is what helped me through it. They add to your Water total too. Find a shake that you actually like, l like Pure Protein pre-made and powder. chicken broth is good when you want something hot. It does get easier, good luck to you.

While it is true every surgeon is different. I was told to eat Greek yogurt for Breakfast every day. That was when I got out of the hospital. I just could not stomach it at all. So I called and they switched it to low fat cottage cheese. I have eaten that everyday. It is loaded with protien and a sure hit. My stomach likes it! I had lots of low fat cream Soup strained. No meat chunks in the beginning. Broths.....chicken broth I liked the most. My nut told me to make sure I drank 2 premier shakes a day.(30 grams of Protein each) I still do this even with food. She told me as long as I do the shakes and drink total 64 oz a day I am safe as far as nutrition goes. Drinking the shakes takes the pressure off. I am almost 4 months out and still apply that basic rule. At least 64 ounces of liquids a day and make sure I drink both shakes equally 60 grams of protien. I hope this helps. Best wishes!

Get premier shakes from SAMs or costco, they are the best! They are thin and the choc is great, but to get more Protein I mix I cup NF milk in a shaker with a few ice cubs. They are really good! I can't drink the powder because if I have to mix up in the blender they always have to much air and I can't drink them. Good luck!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
