I'm scheduled for surgery this Wednesday February 27. Starting to have second thoughts about the whole process. Is this normal?

Goya, I think its normal. My surgery is the day after yours and I'm just trying to focus on why I'm willing to do this, I am so tired of being overweight. Good luck to you.

Thank you! Good luck to you too! I know there is a lot to gain from this, it's crunch time now so it's getting to me.

My surgery is Monday. I'm not nervous at all. My husband is but I'm not. I've had 11 surgeries in the past so I feel like I know what to expect.

I've been very calm and sure of my deduction up until now. I just have to think of all the good that is gonna happen because of surgery.

Goya, my surgery is the 28th and I am nervous, but also so excited. I am sitting here wishing I had never gotten to this point that I have to contemplate this, but I did. Now I need to move ahead to be the healthiest I can be for my kids, my grandkids and my husband. I am having a pity party as I am doing my preop diet and wishing I could eat like I used to, and yet doing that is why I have to go through this. The reality of it for me is that I wish it was not the way it is, but it is and since the other things I have done did not work, this is the one. Trust me, I am really nervous, too, but trusting in my surgeon and God to get me through this. I pray you, too, will have great success.

I'm almost 4 weeks post op and I was nervous. It hit me when I got to the hospital and put on the gown, I cried from the time they did my iv until the time I was given anesthesia LOL. It's scary not knowing what you're going to feel like when you wake up, recovery, etc. but they will give you meds to ease the nervousness once you are prepped.

I've been there but trust me!!! It gets so much better!!! By day three, you will be well on your way to feeling more and more like yourself again. I would do it over in a heartbeat! You WILL be fine!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
