Hi, i would be interested to know how you coped with the surgery, did it cause a flare up, and were you able to take your usual pain meds, i am on tramadol, gabapentin and paracetomol and if i dont take them i cant stand the pain, i have amytryptilene, and alupurinol for gout too, plus many more meds, i have several chronic diseases, am hoping less weight will help my joints and enable me to go swimming, the only exercise i can do, thanks, xx

I have fibro, RA, Sjogrens, asthma, Pre diabetes (oral med's only) & take a tons of med's. I was told to only take my prempro & Bystolic the morning of surgery, I need to use my inhaler as usual and bring rescue inhaler with me for surgery.

My rheumatologist told me he will adjust my med's as I lose weight. My GP will adjust other med's as needed.

My advice is too just keep track of all med's taken, any side effects as you lose weight.

Congratulations and good luck!!

I have Lupus, Sjogrens, Osteoarthritis and numerous other health issues. I have been disabled since 2003. I started this journey to get off my 27 meds I took everyday. My surgeon had me stop all meds until he decided differently. I am 4 mos post-op, surgery Oct 30th. Anyways the 1st month was really bad. All my joints ached, I was having AWFUL hot flashes, no energy and just felt like sh*t! Doctors determined that my body was not only going through changes due to the surgery, my body was going through withdrawals of all the medications. 2nd month things seemed better, still having problems with nauseousness and smells. Then the 3rd month I caught the flu, coughing, nauseousness, vomiting and then it turned to pneumonia! I became very weak, not able to eat and hurt all over. Four weeks of not being able to eat really took a toll on me. I became emotional and even questioned if I did the right thing by having this surgery. This past couple of days I can truly say I turned the corner and things look so much brighter. My bones still ache but I'm able to eat! Work closely with your rheumy on how to taper off your meds. I did not do that and now I think that 1st month may not have been that bad. I now only take 11 meds a day and 4 of those I should be off in 2 months! Good-Luck :)

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
