I'm 19 days out and still have sight pain. I just found out I'm having a reaction to the internal sutures used. The last surgery I had this same thing happened and it took 8 weeks for the pain to go away!

Not sure it's the same but perhaps!

Like an allergic reaction? If so, do you know wha they were made of that you're reacting to? I ask because I have some contact allergies & this possibility worries me!

To OP -- I've read that several people have really liked having and abdominal binder post-op, just to give some support to the belly. Maybe that would help?

I had the same kind of pain. When I would lay down sideways it was like a stretching feeling. It felt like extreme muscle pain. I wouldn't do any heavy lifting or anything like that...even light lifting for that matter. It did get better probably two weeks post op...I'm 3.5 weeks now.

I was told they were made of PDS material. I also have contact allergies with tapes and adhesives but only on my tummy it seems. I don't know much about this really other then my surgeon said I 'maybe having a reaction to the inside sutures'. Sorry I'm not much more help :(

I was sleeved on the 19th and was doing really well until yesterday. Now I'm having severe pain near an incision. I asked the DR about it on Monday and like the previous poster said its from sewing through all the layers of tissue including the muscle. When will it stop?? It hurts so bad I can't even stand up. I dug out the abdominal binder I had from my hysterectomy and that helps some. Any other advice?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
