How To Tell When You Are Perfectly Adjusted

Recommended Posts

For all of us who wonder the following:

  1. How come I'm not losing
  2. How come I'm not losing fast enough
  3. How come I'm always hungry
  4. Do I need another fill
  5. Do I need an unfil
  6. Am I eating right

I found this information at another site and it pretty much answers most of the questions I have seen at this forum that are either restriction or food related. I think some of us bandsters here could gain from reading this.

Hey thanks a bunch! These will be great to put on my bulletin board. I'm guilty of more than a couple of them. It's easy to forget these fairly basic guidelines.

If you are always hungry you either are not eating enough solid Protein or you need a fill. Since I don't know your diet I am assuming you need a fill. You should be losing 1-2 lbs a week. Your consumption shouldn't be more than 1/4 to 1/2 cup of food at a time. Good luck.

I really needed to read this since I have not lost in months and have been toying with the idea of a fill. I think before I do that, I really need to adjust some of my habits. Thanks for the reminder.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
