Ladies Only...Is your body going crazy too?

Recommended Posts

I am hoping some of the ladies out there can offer some advice, support or let me know if your body is reacting similar to mine. This all period related. I had my sleeve done November 27th. My regular period ended right before my surgery date. One week post-op I got my period again for 3 straight weeks. I got a reprieve for 2 weeks & then another period for 2 weeks. Another 2 week break and now another period is starting. In case you are counting that is me having my period for 6 weeks out of the 11 weeks post-op and I have no idea when this one will end! I am going absolutely crazy. In 11 weeks I have lost 61 lbs. and gone down from a size 32 pants to a size 26. That is all well & good, but I am tired of having my period. My surgeons office said that this is not abnormal as you lose weight, but I don't know. I have another almost 180 pounds to lose & I can't take it anymore! My poor boyfriend asked me if I was ever going to not be having crazy long & erratic periods anytime soon. lol. Poor guy. Not to be gross, but my periods are SUPER heavy. I am going through boxes of tampons & pads like there is no tomorrow not to mention 6 pairs of ruined underwear, 1 pair of pajama pants, 1 pair of jeans AND a set of sheets! :( Has anyone else gone through this? Does it ever regulate? Anyone on the pill to help? I'm getting pretty desperate here...

I did not have this happen during this surgery, but did when I had another surgery. My doctor put me on birth control to regulate it and it worked. I feel for you and you may now be low on Iron. Best of luck, big congrats on your weight loss:)

Ask your dr for birth control to regulate your period during the weight loss?

I can kind of relate here. I actually started my period DURING the surgery! I'm 9 days out and STILL bleeding heavily. Oh, and I'm on depo provera shot :/

Mine has been all over the place. It shows up on time, but it's like a frickin' lottery each time as to if it's going to be light, heavy, or insane. This month, it's running two weeks long and not heavy enough to matter but just enough to be ANNOYING. I figure once everything slows down and evens out it'll calm down.

You are seriously messing with your hormones losing that much weight in such a short amount of time. Every time one of your little fat cell dies it dumps estrogen into your system and yep here comes aunt flo. It will level out over time. I have dealt with this before. Birth control may help and you should talk to your doc about it. It is awesome and sucks at the same time.

Wow! I haven't had a period in 11 months. I've been on prempro for 2 years now. I pray that I do not start again. I'm getting sleeved on Monday. I'm hoping that phase of my life is over.

Hope you all get back to regular visits soon!

I had my surgery in March 2012. I had hormone/cycle issues after my surgery too. My ob/gyn said obese people store excess hormones in their fat cells and as we loose weight those hormones don't just disappear they have to work thwir way back to normal levels. I had to change my bc once; had some break through bleeding was getting ready to schedule a follow up, and I've just tested positive for pregnancy. All we can figure is my hormones were out of whack again when I got pregnant. My cycle always messed up when I would loose large chunks of weight. My insulin resistance is completely reversed now, so we think loosing 115#'s, reversing my insulin resistance, and my hormones going whack made the perfect storm for me to get pregnant. This is surely a surprise since I am on birth control, have had 4kids, pcos, and it was never this easy to get pregant before....

Only thing I can relate to is that my flow is VERY heavy too. My periods are still exactly 28 days but the flow is so massive. I feel ya on the ruined sheets and clothes. I have done the same.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
