I'm going to the bank tomorrow to get the money for the surgery and was wondering how much cash to take to Tijuana? Im hoping I can use my visa for things at the hotel Marriott and hopefully for my moms meals (does anyone have experience with using visa down there. is it widely accepted? are there fees to use it?) thinking taking 50-75$ cash just for tipping. I really want to take as little cash as possible. What did everyone take or plan to take?

My date is the 9th so I have been wondering the same things. My husband is going with me so I know he is going to want to eat. I hope I feel up to doing something also because I feel bad making him set in a hotel and hospital for his whole vacation. I also am going to bring extra just in case they were to have to fix something else in me such as a hernia.

I brought $200 with me for tipping and for my mom's meals and I had enough leftover to get souvenirs. I wouldn't really use my visa their (only at the Mariott) unless you are going to the mall. The reason I say that is because some times merchants take a few days to post things and if you have any discrepancies it can be difficult disputing them.

My mom ate at other places besides the Mariott.

If you have any other questions you can send me a message.

We billed my husbands meals to the room and at check out paid with our visa. Using a Visa is no problem and the exchange rate usually works out better. Much safer than carrying a lot of cash.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
