howdy! I Just Got Home From The Hospital. Everything Went Great. Everything But The Weather. My Surgery Was At 1:30, The Weather Was So Bad That The Radiologist Left Before I Got My Flouroscopy Done So I Had To Stay Overnight, Which Was Already An Option Given To Me Anyway. I Was Suppose To Have Had The Flouroscopy Then At 8 This Morning But With Our Ice Storm Employees Were Late Getting In And It Didn't Get Done Until 10:30. I'm Grateful For The Night At The Hospital Though, The Bed Was Comfortable, They Hooked Up A Pca Pump And The Slightiest Little Twinge Of Pain I Punched The Button, So I Was Vertually Pain Free Throughout The Night And All Day Today. Just Had My First liquids And Of Course I Ate Too Much Now I Feel Like My Chest Is Thightening. I'm Fixing To Take Some Of My Pain Med And Go To Bed. I Have To Say That So Far This Has Been A Plesant Experience As Far As Surgery Goes, Just Unbeliviably Easy!

I am happy to hear you came through so well! I did the same yesterday, with the liquids. I felt sick to my stomach. I felt like I was going to PB. I have heard you should only take 1/2 to 1 cup, depending on your restriction, at a time and go sssslllllloooowwwww. Put the spoon down between bites, chew 30 times. It helped me a lot to do that today.

I bought some Myoplex Original ready to drink chocolate fudge shakes. I was pleasantly surprised. They are really good. One shake is 17 ounces, so I have been sipping on it for about 1/2 hour. I think I may drink half and save the rest for later or tomorrow. One has 43 g. of Protein, 7 g fat and 310 calories. I have only had about 400 calories today, so I am going to try to finish it by the end of the evening. I get restricted again at night for some reason.

Soy milk also tastes really good! You should try a mini Silk vanilla Soy.

I'm going to have to try the Myoplex..I was drinking the Ensure's High Protein (230 calories) but I have to lower my calory intake to less then 200 a meal...let's see what happens..I'm also going to have to try the soy milk..How are you feeling? Are you maybe having more to eat at night? It might just be the end of the day and "Bandy" is just struggling to keep up...:cry

Yeah, Bandy definitely doesn't like to eat at night. I have been sipping on a Myoplex, one is 17 oz and 310 calories, but I could only drink less than half. So, about 150 calories. It also has 43 grams of protien for one shake. Putting me at under 600 calories today. I am tired and will probably go to sleep early tonight!!!

How are you doing?

Well tomorrow is the big day for me , I will be at the hospital at 6:00am and my surgery is at 8:00am . I am at a breaking point , I am so scared of the surgery itself the afterwards doesnt bother me at all . I hope all goes well and the night will just hurry and pass so I can get this over with . I think this is going to be the longest night of my life . I will post after I am back home and feeling well

I was nervous too. I'm sure everything will turn out fine. Please let us know when you are back on line. I'll keep you in my prayers. Take care.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
