Wow - everyone is doing great.

My first fill was 6 days ago, and it seems that it has gotten tighter. Its not too tight, but I notice it is tighter.

I weighed in this morning and I am now at 201.8, getting so close to the 199 mark and I'm so excited! I try and workout 2 times a day (cardio), but sometimes only make it 1. And sometimes, I'm able to get in 3 cardio sessions. I'm ready to start some strength training, but my doctor still won't let me!

Anyhow, time to go change my ticker..........everyone have a great day!

Hi Sunshine! You are doing great! You should be so proud of yourself! I haven't had a fill yet. I have to wait 10 more days. I am doing ok. I have been doing well overall. I still feel that I have restriction- not as much as immediately post-op, but I think I still have some. I am eating about 500-600 calories/day and am exercising 1 hour/day 4-5x/week. I feel like that scale should be going down quicker than it is. (I am not complaining about my 30lb weight loss) I guess that I'll just hang in there until my fill. Take care. Gigi:)

Hi Sunshine2 you are doing great!!! I wasn't going to get a fill, but the nurse called and gave me my fill day. I was like okay, but I am nervous since I am still dealing with what I think is air pain. I need to STOP using STRAWS!!!! I was up ALL night with the pain...I've never PB'd, but I gag really BAD. Do anyone know what's up with the slime stuff?

Be Blessed!

Sheila, make sure you remind the nurse or doctor about all the problems you've been having, so they give you a small fill. I'd hate to see you have worse problems than you've already encountered. Take care of yourself.

That's great, Sunshine. You're very close to ONEderland. How on earth do you manage to do cardio 3 times a day? Did you quit your job, divorce your husband, sell your kids on the black market, and drop all of your friends just to make time for the exercise? 'Cause that's probably what I'd have to do to manage cardio 3 times in one day! I haven't even started exercising yet.

Glad to hear your fill is getting tighter. It gives me hope. I'm at 2 ccs and feel nothing, yet.

Thanks soo much. I'm so happy with the wieght loss, but if I can make the nauseous feeling, the air pain and the slime mess go away I will be fine. I know it's air, because when I gag I burp...it's weird. Other than that I'm okay, I may need to increase my calorie intake though.

Be Blessed!

I hope my ticker is showing up.

LOL! Although at times I would like to sell my kids and divorce my husband, and definitely quit my job - none of the above.

Here is how I do it - I "try" and get up in the am - I did manage it twice last week - and I do my cardio in the am, usually 45 min. Then I have a job that has no one looking over my shoulder, and I just take a break at either 10 or 3 and we have a gym in our building, I go and try and get 20 to 30 min in on the treadmill or elliptical. Then I go in the evening - I usually don't get 3 x's in, but I have, I usually manage 2 x's a day. I'm trying to do Telly's Maximum results.

I'm a little burned out from my workouts this weekend, so I am taking today off and hitting the gym tomorrow. Also the time change has not agreed with me.

PS - what type of band do you have? 4cc's or 10 cc's? I'm at 2.2 cc's, I know everyone is dfferent on their restriction, but it is giving me great restriction but not so much that I PB. I just notice by 1/2 cup of food, I'm done.

Sheila, I haven't experienced the slime yet, although I've heard it isn't fun. You need to make sure you share this with your doctor. I've heard the slime develops when food is a bit stuck, its your bodies way of helping the food lube and go thru - not sure if that is correct or not, but that is what I've heard.

Yes, my doctor told me no straws because they can cause air to build up. I just drink from my water bottle.< /p>

Ditto on that damn time change.

I have a 4 cc band. With a 2 cc fill, I can still eat about 2 cups of food. I'm eating my Protein first and then using veggies to fill up on. I want to get to the point where I'm full on 1/2 a cup like you. I go to bed every night with my stomach growling. The past 2 nights, I woke up at 4 a.m. because the growling had progressed to an uncomfortable burning sensation. I ate 2 of those vanilla Creme Rolaids and that soothed the burning emptiness, but I have a feeling I shouldn't be waking up from hunger.

No - you should not be waking up from hunger. That does suck! I do know that when I got my fill, at first 2.0 cc's was tight, then he lowered it to 1.8 cc's and it went right thru the band, then he raised it back to 2.0 ccs and it went thru faster. He said sometimes the body adjust to the fills and compensates, in other words, the body is smart and will make it easier for it to digest the food. So he then raised it to 2.2 cc's, its amazing what just .2 cc's can do.

When can you get another fill? I'm supposed to go back in April. He also said as we lose weight, sometimes just 10 lbs, can make us lose some of our restriction - we lose fat around the stomach area, hence making the band loser. I was going to cancel my fill appointment for 4/5, however, I decided I will wait until closer, just in case I lose some restriction.

It sounds like your making the right choices with the 2 cups of food, either way, does it still seem like your eating less now than before the band? I know they say as long as your eating 1/3 of what you were eating before, you should lose weight.

Hang in there - I've heard also sometimes the band gets tighter at 1 or 2 weeks after a fill, so maybe you will get tighter. Babygotback said that happened to her if I remember correctly.

Seems like a lifetime when I don't post here for a few days. I wrote the following and shared it on a different post. You are all the greatest support. Thank you...

When I first heard about the band, I was amazed that I could possibly 'finally' loose the weight. Without Gastric Bypass

Now that I'm banded, I'm amazed at the following:

6 weeks and 20 pounds gone

5 inches off my hips

2 off my waist

4 off my bust

Just 6 weeks, and my boyfriends friends noticed yesterday..."Wow..you look great! Wish you'd teach my wife how to loose weight!" (mean, I know...but was a backhanded compliment of sorts). He said he saw me from the profile and couldn't believe it! Called me 'slim'...far from it - but it felt OH SO GOOD!

I can fit into clothes from a few years ago - that I tucked away for 'when I loose the weight'. Well...I'm loosing it. I NEVER fit into the 'someday' clothes again.

I have bought some clothes in size 14/16 - so I'll have something to wear in the fall. $10 rule; anything under $10 and two sizes smaller is SAFE. Whoops!...the blouses I can get into NOW!

I am VERY aware of what I eat. Minimally processed, high Protein, low carb - which has always made me feel better.

I was dancing around the house tonight. Just dancing. Good mood...nah - just more energy.

I am amazed that TWO chicken strips, and 4 potatoe fries - FILLED ME for dinner last night (me????) I normally could eat 8 chicken strips.

AMAZED that I'm not eating at night. No urges to get up for any midnight snack. (though I do admit to my chocolate craving being satisfied!)

As a matter of fact - I'm totally freaked out that I am satisfied - never feel 'FULL'. Whole different animal. Truly something that has to be experienced to be understood.

I'm amazed that I went out Friday night, ordered my first glass of wine, and sipped it for nearly an hour!!! ONE glass of wine - 60 minutes THIS coming from a girl who's cats are named Martini and Cosmopolitan! AND...I passed on the glass of wine yesterday. Why??? In my head I thought; "Empty Calories, unneeded sugar...don't bother"! HA!!!!

I am amazed that even "I" can tell that I'm loosing my old shell. I see my face looking different. My entire puffiness is gone. I've got my hourglass back!!!

I know that I have a long journey ahead, alot more weight to loose. I have my 6 week check up on Thursday, and then perhaps we'll discuss my first fill. I know once that happens...I'll be learning to eat all over again. What I eat now, what I tolerate now - will not be - once I start getting fill restrictions.

Doesn't matter to me. What matters is that I am now leading a life, that daily...is amazing me.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
