January Bandsters???

Recommended Posts

What is it with getting sick right before surgery? Feels like my body is trying to get sick, but I can't...I get banded on the 26th. I guess I'll be picking up some Airbornne tomorrow. Good idea Audree. I already got Vitamin C, and zinc.

Hi everyone, just checking in and checking up on everyone.

Congratulations to all who were banded this week! Can't wait to hear how you're doing.

Babygotback, you are a great addition to this thread with tons of information and support. Bandida, Sunshine, and others as well.

As for me, I'm doing good. I got out for the first time since surgery yesterday. Went for my post-op check up and was told I could pull the surgical tape off of my incisions. It took me a while (pure fear) but all of the incisions were closed up nicely. Three are so tiny, like pin pricks, that they are just going to disappear.

Of course the port incision will not, mine is LONG, but it won't be an ugly scar either. :(

Here's my big news... I had lost 10 lbs since last Friday (my surgery day). I go back in 3 weeks. I won't weigh again until then. But, I have started taking measurements, and I think I'm going to do that weekly.

I've just for the first time found out what full really feels like. LOL I have no intention of surpassing that feeling anytime in the future.

Well, good luck to everyone who is still on the list for banding. I'll try and check in more frequently, so that I can share in the conversation more.

Thank You Inner Me...Your words mean a lot..:) I do have to say that I am also thankful for everyone who in some way or another have shared their words...not just for info but just to keep our spirits high. I'm glad I found this site and have gotten a chance to see a little of each one of you daily!!!!:clap2: :rose: YOU GUYS ARE ALL AWESOME!!!

CONGRATULATIONS on your "loss"! that'sa awesome..as long as your not feeling sick...GOOD LUCK and kkep up the great work!!:clap2: :)

I think you are a source of inspiration and strenght for all of us here.:rose: You have a real gift BabyGB. It's so cool to read your posts.

We currently live in Florida but are hoping by the end of this year or early next year to relocate back home to San Diego. But my famly is still in SD so coming to get a fill will be great since I can do both..visit my Mom and get a fill. Tickets are so reasonable, other the holidays, that it's a great excuse to come home.

BTW...I am so happy that I switched Docs. Lori has already made me feel so much more comfortable with the whole procedure. Before I was real nervous of traveling alone and the whole procedure but after reading your experience, visiting the website, researching online, talking to Lori on email and seeing peoples scar stages on this site my nerves are at ease...well naturally I'm alittle anxious but I'm no longer questioning if I should go through with it. I'll be sure to tell everyone at the office that Audree says Hello! :biggrin1:

I am going to register on Dr Ortiz's website so we can all coordinate fill dates and anniversary celebrations. The January Bandsters are an awesome group. I can't wait to be a real January bandita too. :bandit Hey, maybe that's what I'll name mine. She can be Bandita.

Patience has never been my thing. Guess that's one of the reasons I battle weight...I like instant satisfaction/gratification. Everyday has been a constant battle for me. I know that may sound like an exageration but it's true. I always tried to start the day off positive...I would eat healthy, or follow my new diet, or exercise and day after day I would go to bed so angry at myself. I am just so happy and relieved that I am taking the step, with my new band buddies behind me, to end this crazy vicious cycle. Rock on Girls!!!

I am actually going to go back to school, online to finish my BA in psychology. My goal is to get my MA in social work. I have always wanted to work with marriage and family. I was orginally going to get my MA in Marriage and Family Counseling, but someone told me I'd have more options to get my MA in social work.

I have never thought about working with people that have struggled with their weight like I have. Now, with all I have gone through and getting banded, meeting all of you, I think I may have found another calling!!

the Fudgesicles come in a yellow box and are Popsicle brand. They have sugar free fruity flavors too. The liquid tyleno pm I bought in case I had more pain at night, which I had to use a few times at Albertsoms (market) The Better than Boullion I bought at Albertsons, but I heard they have a website? They are soooo good!!! They are made from real chicken and meat and taste like you made a roast, the beef one is roast beef, and like you got some of the tasty liquid!!!:hungry: I also bought Wolfgang Pucks gourmet boullion. I buy Glacial Milk liquid vitamins from Sams Club. You can also do a search and find them. They are so packed with nutrients. If you scroll a little ahead, I posted the ingredients to them. They don't taste bad and are tolerable, but they are not tasty. They have so many things in it to support weight loss that I don't care what it tastes like!!

Hello!

I bought Centrum chewables and liquid tylenol from Wal-mart. I heard Wolfgang Pucks is great. Which do you like better? I'm glad you liked the belly band nickname! My hubby thought this was quite cute. :biggrin1: I can't believe that I have only 11 days when I wake up tomorrow! Starting to get nervous, anxious, excited, etc...:omg:

A heating pad for gas pain, I also bought liquid Tylenol pm, gatorade, Vitamin Water, crystal light, and Better that Boullion and for the first three days.

After that you will need creamy Soups in all different flavors, premade shakes, I like Silk vanilla soy milk, V8, sugar free fudgesicles, drinkable yogurt to name a few!!

Hey! Nice to hear from you each day. I remember the gas pain from gallbladder surgery and wish I would have know something as simple as Gas-X could have helped. I will have to get the Tylenol PM. Any good tasting Protein Drinks? Do you notice a difference in your clothes yet?

Oh yeah, from bariatriceating.com I bought nectar Protein drinks in Fuzzy Navel with Water tastes like Tang and strawberry Kiwi mixed with Silk Vanilla Soy milk tastes like a milk shake. They have so many flavors. I ordered a sample of each one ($1.75 a sample)

By the way, I have always thought your quote "Bonding by Banding" was hysterical! I feel the same way.

Wolfgang Pucks is really good. I like them both, but the Better than Boullion is made from meat and even has itty bitty little pieces of meat in it.

You are going to be there before you know it!!!

Your belly band will be born!!!

I bought a lot of samples of nectar Protein drinks. They are fruity and taste really good so far. You can buy them on bariatriceating.com I bought Fuzzy Navel. It tastes like Tang. I bought strawberry Kiwi and mixed with Silk vanills soy it tastes like a milk shake, even frothy. I havent tried the other ones yet, bought like 8 samples. I like the Myoplex shakes. They are good and have 43 grams of protein for one.

I'd buy Slim fast for convenience, but they give me gas. I heard they have come out with some new ones that don't give gas, but I haven't seen them.

I do notice a difference in my pants feeling looser. I just am afraid to weigh myself.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
