I wonder if I am the only one that can feel their port underneath their skin and fat? Under my port incision, I can tell there is something hard there. My cousin had lap band surgery on Nov 30, and she still can not feel her port. My surgery was Jan 8 so I wondered if I was all alone. Does this mean the surgeon did not place it deep enough? Or is this just the incision and inside stitches healing? My surgeon used inside stitches and glue for all incisions.

We had already agreed I would get a low profile port. I'm just curious.

The port is usually not right under the incision. Mine is an inch under it. The hardness you feel are the stiches and scar tissue that is forming.

We were both banded on the 15th right? I also have some pain in my back but it isn't bad. My thighs are sore too, I know it's strange. It started all at once yesterday afternoon, if it had been from riding my bike I think it would have started sooner. So far I haven't had any of the shoulder pain that other people talk about, thank God! All and all I think I'm doing pretty good as far as pain goes. Not able to take in much in my little pouch tho. It really is a learning experience. As far the pain in the back did you get an insentive spirometor from the hospital? Use it, you need to expand your lungs and it really will help with getting the pain to go away. If you didn't just take some REALLY deep slow breaths, about 10 of them and see if it helps.

Hi Everyone,

I somewhat new. Have been looking around the site for information for about a month. Am scheduled for Jan 31st with Dr. Spivak. Am so looking forward to being able to have some control over my appetite.

For those of you that have experienced thigh pain, I wonder if it is because of the position that they put you in for surgery. They open your legs up and the surgeon stands between them while he works. :omg:

Makes my legs hurt to think about it.

Anyway, please add me to the January bandster list. Will barely make it, but I will be part of the group.

I was banded on the 11th and they gave me a shot in both thighs to slow blood clotting. The 1st shot was 1 hour before I ented the operating room and the second about 4 hours after. Both thighs were bruised and sore. The did one of those "stabbing" motions (like when you get insulin).

Good luck to you tomorrow. I was banded on the 15th and the experience was actually almost pleasant. Nice hospital experience, great roommate, not alot of pain and I'm feeling pretty good. It sure is good to be on the post-op side instead of pre-op. Keep us posted. Smilliegal

Shesha, I have used the ready made EAS AdvantEdge vanilla, chocolate fudge and strawberry esp. during the pre-op phase when I had to drive my daughter back to college and was on the road for four days. They're pretty good. Now post-op and with more time I'm using Whole Foods whey Protein Powder in skim milk with ice cubes and flavorings in the blender. I may add additional dry milk tomorrow. Today was my first day home post-op so I'm still experimenting. Smilliegal

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
