Does anyone still feels hungry?

Recommended Posts

I never lost my hunger although it was less than it was before. Make sure you are taking any mediation for Acid Reflux and drinking Water as both of those can mimic hunger. I find I have days of feeling famished and days when I have to remind myself to eat.

I have head hunger but I have not really had any real hunger pangs.

You're not alone. I still get hungry but it's a normal, natural hunger feeling. Not ravenous like before.

My surgeon asked me if I still get hungry. I answered, "Yes" and he asked how soon I feel it. I told him when it is about time to eat (around 4 hours) and he said "Good. That's how it should be!" so I take it that it is normal to still get hungry when it is time to eat.

Yep, I still get hungry, and have since the surgery almost a year ago. Like the previous poster said, it's not a ravenous hunger (usually), but it is hunger that I did not expect based on what I had read and was told.

Yes, the stomach meds do help, and I have tried them all, but I experience real hunger.

However, I am really glad that I get hungry. It makes me want food, like normal people, and it helps me really enjoy food, like normal people, two things I was really worried about losing.

I don't ever feel "hungry". I have bubbles, that's about it.

My body knows when it's time to eat and will remind me if I forget. It's not like my hunger from before, it's different

I get little twinges now at 5 weeks out. But now they're like, "Eat a little something." Pre-op it was, "GO TO THE CHINESE BUFFET AND EAT EVERYTHING IN SIGHT!!!!"

I definitely still get hungry. The only thing different from when I had a "normal" stomach is when I'm hungry I can't eat huge portions. I wish I didn't feel hunger.

Haha hilarious and so true! I would feel bad before because I'd eat a huge burrito at lunch and feel hunger hours later! Now I am really full after 4oz and remind myself I didn't eat much. I get hungry but its easily soothed with a little deli meat.

I have a lot of head hunger though:( it's torture.

I cannot feel hunger until it's been so long and then my only sign is feeling weak or faint.

The head hunger never left me though, I have the drive to eat, but I am doing everything I can to curb that

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
