5'6" and weighed 225-235 surgery day?

Recommended Posts

I'm looking for Sleevers that started their journey at 5'6" tall and weighing between 225-235 range. Let's hear your monthly totals please. I'm 54 years old and was sleeved on Jan. 21,2013. At 4 weeks post op I had lost 16 pounds, 216.. Started at 232, I've been toggling between 217 and 216 for about 10 days now.

I am close. I am 5'7 and started out at 220. I am 6 1/2 months out and 55 down. I lost 20 the first month and about 7-10lbs each month thereafter but a month long plateau at month 5. Now at month 6 I started losing again. But I definitely felt like I hit plateaus all the time. I would lose a few pounds in a week then plateau for two weeks then lost again. But the entire time I felt my body changing. I also learned that if I eat 1000 or less calories per day I lose- I eat a measly 200 more calories per day and I plateau. I really hope this helps!!!! Hang in there! It looks like you are doing really good. :)

5'6 and 60 yrs old. Went from 272 to 237 from seminar date and while on 2 week preop.. Left hospital at 237 and still weighed 237 at two week checkup... A bit discouraging but knew to stay the course. A few days later began losing 1 or 2 lbs every day. Now about 10 lbs in less than 10 days. Lost 4 the first 2 days of starting soft foods! Patience is the key.. Sleeve losers lose weight in a stair step pattern... Lose, stabalize and adjust our system, lose, stabalize and adjust, etc etc. dont wory about the no loss periods. Keep true to the plan and loss will start up again when your system is ready. Good luck!

I'm also somewhat close. I'm 5'6", 57 years old and weighed 248 on the date of surgery. I'm down to 214 now for a total loss of 34 pounds since surgery on 12/26. I lose about 4 - 5 pounds a week when I'm not stalling. When I am stalling - I don't change a thing and eventually my body catches up and I start the process over. I've settled into a routine of eating about 500 - 600 calories a day. I get in about 1/2 my Water (34 oz) each day. I almost always get my Protein in but when I don't I have learned not to stress. I do weight training twice a week and some kind of cardio 4 days a week. I'm loving the sleeved life.

that is encouraging! my goal is to be down 65 pounds in 6 months, so maybe I can feel halfway decent in a swimsuit before the summer is over.

I am 5' 6" and weighed 235 lbs. the day of surgery, 12/18/12. I am 9 weeks out and weigh 202 lbs. and so far have lost 33 lbs.

The first 3 weeks after surgery I lost 21 lbs - one pound a day. Then I hit the typical stall that frequently occurs 3 weeks after surgery. I think my body was in shock from losing so quickly. I lost 7 pounds the second month. This past week I've started losing again at a higher rate and have lost 5 lbs.

I keep my daily calorie total under 900, Protein 80-100 grams, carbs under 90, and drink at least 80 oz of Water. I've worked out at gym 10 times since surgery, doing 45 minutes on treadmill and a few resistance machines. I know if I get consistent with going to the gym I will lose more quickly.

My typical day includes a Pure Protein Drink for Breakfast as it has 35 grams of Protein. I love the Thai-style chicken spring rolls lean cuisines for lunch (10 grams of protein) with salsa. snack I try and have fruit and 2 0z of protein, usually chicken breast. dinner will be another 2-3 oz.of chicken or fish and a veggie, or a chicken Caesar salad. Then for a treat after dinner I sometimes have a Skinny Cow fudge ice cream cone as they are so yummy, lol.

I track everything on SparkPeople, I came across it by accident and love it, it's a great site!

In my case, the restriction helps the most when I go out to dinner or its a holiday/special occasion when there is a lot of food around. The normal day to day I was already eating like I am now, as I was always trying to lose weight.

The BIGGEST gift the sleeve has given me is my loss of hunger and I pray that it doesn't return. Not to say that it has disappeared completely, it hasn't but its diminished by 80% and that is such a huge gift.

I love my sleeve and can't wait to hit ONEDERLAND! :-)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
