I'm 5'6" and weigh 221, I'm 45 years old. I'm hoping for a late September surgery date and will add to the data thread here afterwards. It's nice to connect with some others starting at about the same BMI. Sometimes i think being at the lower end of the BMI scale can have some of its own challenges. Feel free to friend me if you want to chat in more detail.

Wow Linda! Awesome! I'm 11 days post-op and down 15. I can't wait to start the losing trend. Thanks for putting a visual out there.

Thanks! I walked at least an hour 2-3 days per week and did 1/2 hour of strength training 3 days per week. Early out I mostly stuck to eating pan. You can see by the numbers I slacked at the end.

Hang in there, girl. I'm 5'51/2". Started at 230, day of surgery was 221lbs. That was 8/6/2013. Now I'm 177lbs. I got a little sidetracked and started eating treats (Halloween crap). So today in back on track, no head hunger so far today.

It can feel slow, but I promise, you are changing. I struggle with being patient, but each day is a day closer to goal!

Thanks for the encouragement. I try and remind myself that it took a while to pack on the weight, it's going to be a marathon and not a sprint to take it all off.

Good luck with avoiding the candy. I have issues with snacking temptations as well.

I'm 5'6", medium frame, weighed about 250 at the beginning of pre-op phase, 228 day of surgery, 13 months later I now weigh 153. I've added a lot of muscle and some of the supplements I take add Water weight. I'd like to get down to 145/140. I'd like to maintain some curves and not get too thin.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
