I am stuck and not sure why

Recommended Posts

I had gotten down to 172 almost two weeks ago. I was so excited that I was nearing the 160s. But then early last week it bounced back up to 177. At first I thought it was Water weight but its been almost two weeks and it hasn't come back done. I am getting in plenty of Protein and 60+ oz of Fluid (have never gotten in much more than this and have always been able to lose). I am exercising 5 out of 7 days. I'm just not sure what I am doing wrong. When it first bounced up, I decided to go back to basics (protein shakes instead of food) but that doesn't seem to be helping. Yesterday I had one Premier Protein shake, one Oh Yeah bar (15 grams), one GNC Total Lean shake, one turkey burger patty with 1/2 teaspoon each of mayo, ketchup and mustard and a piece of low fat cheese on it. That's it. I walked 4 miles at brisk pace. That's a typical day for me. Any thoughts? I'm super discouraged.

It could just be your body replenishing glycogen stores in your muscles. It takes 4 oz of Water for each 1 oz of glycogen stored. Or it could be like in my case (this has happened twice in 8 weeks), a REALLY BIG poo. Seriously, I lost almost 2 lbs after going each time. So keep in mind how often your going to the bathroom, that could be the extra weight.

Weight gain or stalls can be caused by not exercising enough or too much carbs. You are obviously exercising enough so maybe carbs? The POO thing does sounds possible too. Goodluck I hope you start loosing soon

Are you getting in your Vitamins? B12, Calcium, Iron, D3? That could be it.

During one stall I had, a friend who had bypass surgery told me to go out and get a hamburger or milkshake to shock my system. So I did. Yup, shocked my system alright. I got a sundae and could only eat about 3-4 bites. It worked, though.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
