CarrieP 50 Posted February 22, 2013 Sorry guys but this is a question for the ladies. Mostly the ones that have had c-sections. How did the pain from your sleeve surgery compare to having a c-section?? I'm just trying to figure out what to expect as far as pain wise. I'm also kinda scared of being put under. Never done that either. Thanx Sent from my iPhone using VST
Chris R 217 Posted February 22, 2013 Wow, it's been a while since my C-section - but I'd say the pain was a lot less from the sleeve than from the C-section. I also had my gall bladder removed laproscopically - I'd say the sleeve surgery was more painful than that, but I had a very little pain with the gall bladder surgery. jdoll 0 Posted February 22, 2013 My last c-section was 3 years ago, so I remember it quite well...c-section is alot worse...,you'll be fine!
Khloé 89 Posted February 22, 2013 I'd also like to know. I don't really remember being in a lot of pain after my c-section, except from being confined to a bed for the 32+ hours I was in labor in the hospital alone. Stupid sadistic, evil bed. Ugh. lol... Anyway, I've always heard that a c-section is worse than WLS, so hopefully it'll turn out great.
ShouldBlittler 89 Posted February 22, 2013 C section was MUCH more pain, but with the sleeve I just generally felt kinda sick and off for at least a week. Apples and oranges...
NyPrincess 7 Posted February 22, 2013 I think the sleeve surgery was way more painful.. C-section scar was on the outside vs. them taking out your stomach & scared on the inside & out...
Alabamasleever 58 Posted February 22, 2013 I think the sleeve surgery was way more painful.. C-section scar was on the outside vs. them taking out your stomach & scared on the inside & out... Huh? C-section on the outside? I've had 3, scar on outside, yes but they also cut through your abdominal muscles, cut your uterus open and pulled out a human from your inside! Sorry to be graphic but it was a little more than 'on the outside'. Anyway, to OP, everyone is different, of course, but my sleeve surgery did not even compare to pain of c-section recovery. As long as no complications, recovery from the actual surgery (incisions and what not) is/was the easy part.
Nicolanz 1,484 Posted February 22, 2013 Csection was a breeze for me. The sleeve was more painful in my opinion.
kscdvm 78 Posted February 22, 2013 I think sleeve was more painful but it could also be that you feel less pain holding your new baby too. Of course my c section was 19 years ago and I don't heal as fast in my 40's..........
Imabeskinny 31 Posted February 22, 2013 C-section was way more painful for me. The cut was lower in the abdomen and it was harder to move around. With WLS the cuts were higher and didn't really hurt. I did put a pillow and a heating pad on my stomach which helped a lot. With the c-section, I didn't like being awake and then being wheeled into recovery. I still remember worrying about being able to feel pain. With being put under, I dont remember anything and prefer that! Also know that the reason you go through all the tests and stuff is to make sure the surgery goes smoothly. Don't be scared, easy for me to say now, everything will be fine. Prior to my surgery I got scared but read some post where a woman said her c-section surgery was way worse than WLS. I found comfort in that because I survived a c-section with twins for that matter! KickRocks 163 Posted February 22, 2013 I had 2 c-sections and my gallbladder out and was in no pain with either. Just a little sore so I'm praying that the sleeve will be the same.
akirk 20 Posted February 22, 2013 I probably shouldn't comment bcause I have never had kids or a c-section but I thought I could tell you a little about how it felt after I was sleeved. For me the first night was the worst and I was lucky that my surgeon gave me a pain pump with morphine that I was allowed to push myself. This really helped take the edge off. What got me was movement. I tended to hurt much worse when trying to roll over, get out of bed, or get off the couch. Anything that worked those abdominal muscles was uncomfortable. Also I had previously had the lapband so I have an extra incision that they removed my port from and that was the one that hurt the worst. Also I was a nurse in the OR for many years. Try not to worry about being put to sleep. Before you leave the pre-op area they will give you a medicine called Versed (similar to valium but stronger) and it will really help you relax. You probably won't remember much after that either because it has amnesic properties. Ask for a scope patch as well. It goes behind your ear and is helpful in preventing nausea and vomiting. You can leave this on for 3 days. I did and it really helped. Hope this helps and good luck!
Sleevedintx 39 Posted February 22, 2013 Had a c section 7 years ago and sleeve was a cake walk compared to the c section. My dr even said sleeve would be easier.
DanaMomto3 145 Posted February 22, 2013 My c sections were a piece of cake. The sleeve hurt way more.
ShrinkyDinkMe22 376 Posted February 22, 2013 I'm a freak and had no pain with either. The nurses for both procedure were dumbfounded. My c section they did not cut through my muscle so I'm assuming that made a big difference. And for the sleeve I had single site incision. Never had pain with either.
