Presbyterian Dallas

Recommended Posts

Anyone had their vsg at Presbyterian in Dallas, Texas? If so, what was your experience?

I figured I would be sleeved at Forest Park, but it turns out that my insurance has a stipulation that requires I have my surgery at a bariatric center of excellence (or something like that), so Presby it is.

Sorry, no - my band was done at Baylor Dallas on 12/21/10 and my sleeve was done at Baylor Carrollton on 12/28/12. Doesn't Dr Nick use Baylor Plano?

Yes, and Forest Park, but my insurance has a stipulation that my surgery has to be performed at a bariatric center of excellence and Presbyterian has that, whereas the others do not.

I've had two surgeries at Presby.

The nurses are so great! I felt it was the best care I've had at any hospital.

I was sleeved at Forest Park and I've also had surgeries at Baylor and UTSW

Presby was by far the best!

You will have great care

My insurance (BCBS) had the same requirement all three are centers of excellence. It might be the surgeons preference. In fact, I had asked that my band surgery be at Baylor Carrollton. The surgeon's office told me it had to be at Baylor Dallas for the same reason you were told. Later I found out Baylor Carrollton had the same 'rating' as Baylor Dallas. When I asked about it after surgery (because I didn't know any better) they said we never said that. Sure they did, but the surgeon was scheduling his surgeries at Baylor Dallas that particular day/week/month. For my sleeve surgery I demanded Baylor Carrollton and got it. Baylor Carrollton and Baylor Dallas were good experiences; however Carrollton was better.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
