angelaet 23 Posted February 22, 2013 I've been on my pre-op diet for 4 weeks and three days. I'm really having trouble today. I'm craving carbs REALLY bad. I haven't felt like this since the first week. I'm getting really frustrated. I have 15 more lbs to be below 50.0 BMI, which is required by my surgeon before my April 1st surgery date. I see my WLS team march 19th for my all day class and another weigh in. I'm so frustrated!! I do 30 minutes of aerobics everyday and it seems the past 2 days have been the worse. Anyone else having problems?
TES 858 Posted February 22, 2013 Can you have some low-carb veggies, so you get your fix without the "bad" carbs? Or even something like half a baked sweet potato?
angelaet 23 Posted February 22, 2013 I can have low carb veggies, but no potatoes, corn, Lima Beans. I'm eating broccoli, tomatoes cabbage but still feel Rrrrr.
FeeIsMe2 508 Posted February 22, 2013 What about cucumber?
angelaet 23 Posted February 22, 2013 That might be my best bet. I have been so unprepared this week for dieting. I need to just cut it up too and have it ready. My week has been so frustrating. Thank you! I love cucumbers and they do fill me up.
FeeIsMe2 508 Posted February 22, 2013 That might be my best bet. I have been so unprepared this week for dieting. I need to just cut it up too and have it ready. My week has been so frustrating. Thank you! I love cucumbers and they do fill me up. Cucumbers saved my sanity when I was on my pre-op diet. I would eat a whole cucumber with a little lemon and salt and a 3oz piece of grilled chicken for lunch everyday.
SerendipityHappens 1,594 Posted February 22, 2013 This may sound counterintuitive but, When I am struggling, I cut out everything except for Protein Shakes made with something other than milk and maybe a serving of cottage cheese or egg/meat... If I could get my carbs under 20 or 30 for a few days and that would seem to curb things for me. Then after a few days I was ok to add back in the non-starchy vegetables and my beloved kale juice and a bit of milk keeping my carbs under 60. I know it's really hard to do this over the long haul. I've been at this since December and have less than three weeks to lose the last five pounds before surgery and I think I'm going to come in just under the wire with 40 pounds lost in 3 and a half months. angelaet 23 Posted February 22, 2013 Thank you both. I'm trying them both. I really appreciate it. I've felt my sanity slipping away. Again thanks!
angelaet 23 Posted February 22, 2013 I think this all stems from me not being hungry in the mornings. I dream I'm eating food and wake up full.
