Craving Junk

Recommended Posts

I'm 4 months out and craving donuts, chips and other junk food. Anyone else gone through this? Do I satisfy my hunger or avoid the junk like the plague?

Avoid the junk!!! It's not worth it in the long run, unless you can curb it and I know I will struggle with that.

Normally, I don't advocate extremes, but honestly I would stay away from the junk. I say that because at 7 months out I have woken up the carb demon and now I'm struggling with night eating of sweets the same way I was pre-op. There was a point after my surgery where I was naive enough to think I had licked the cravings for good. lies. I know I need to kick this habit before it drags me back down the rabbit hole. Don't wake up your demons. The longer you avoid your trigger foods, the better chance you will have at success.

That is a hard one.. If you were a junk food, carb eater like me I would say try not to go down that road.

These foods like chips are to easy to eat a ton of.

And that scares me. Because those are the kinds of good that got me here.

But there are some people here that say they never had an "addictive" relationship with food

And are able to eat these things on moderation now.

So I guess you for yourself need to look at your past relationship to these foods to figure out if you should eat them or not.

I know it's hard, somedays I want have junk too.

Good luck to you,

Laura

Well I had carbs and started gaining weight. I'm going to make every effort to get back to my Proteins and do what I need to do. I only have 25 pounds to go. I don't want to blow it.

I am struggling with sweets and simple carbs right now and I have about 25lbs left to lose too.... I fight with this so much the thinking I am a failure because this fight is still so strong in me! I am going back to basics today and am going to pursue counselling for my emotional eating issues because this is one battle I intend to win!

I might need to do that too. I only have 22 lbs to go and I've been stalled for four weeks. I just want to get this last few pounds off.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
