Does anyone else feel this way?

Recommended Posts

I am a week away from being 3 months post-op. I have had no complications & have been following my program minus my bread incident earlier today. As if Tuesday I am down 61 lbs. The past few weeks every time that I get on the scale I am super happy...for about 10 minutes. Then I start getting anxiety & feeling depressed. I don't know why. At my surgeon's office visit last week they said that I am right on track with what they expect in regards to weight loss. I have been losing weight regularly. I am down 3 sizes & don't have to shop online anymore. I have so much more energy. So, why the anxiety & depression? Anyone else feeling like this?

I have my up and down moments too...for me it was because I am an emotional eater and havent been dealing with my emotions with food anymore, therefor, not dealing with them at all. also I automatically have this thought in my head that this is too good to be true and it will all come back or stop completely before my goal weight. I would suggest talking to someone you never know, it may help. :) chin up girl :) you can get through it.

Hugs :)

I'm not nearly as far out as you but I've definitely got the anxiety thing going on. I'm seeing a therapist next week and I'm really hoping he can get me on a path out of the anxiety. I don't want to be medicated, I want to feel like myself. I want to sleep. I'm only 3 weeks out, so naturally I'm the kind of post that sympathizes but can't ultimately help your answer. I hope someone has an answer for you.

Omg yes! I am ridiculously depressed despite having dropped 4 sizes in less than 4 months! My pounds aren't dropping very fast and that causes anxiety! I can eat basically anything and yes I still cope with sugar..... It's so strange but the day after a bad sugar binge, I am majorly down.... I am stressed over being a super slow loser...... So I eat crap! Definately have a lot of learning to do on the proper use of my new tool!

Am 4 months out, every time I step on the scale and I loose 1 or 2 lbs , I get so depress and sad. But if I gain a pound or two I don't feel that way. I get more down on my self when I only loose 1-2lbs. Crazy!!!! I KNOWW!! I feel am a slow looser and it drives me crazy!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
