LG1981 111 Posted February 21, 2013 Hi guys. Im 9 days post op. I still have a weird numb feeling on my belly. I hate the way it feels whe fabric touches it. I know its the anesthesia, but how long does it take for this feeling to go away?
Ms.AntiBand 2,984 Posted February 21, 2013 Umm... Ok, I'm going to ask the obvious because maybe I missed something. If it's numb how do you feel the fabric on it. Heh.. Just asking

Just asking [/quote'] Ok...its like the outer layer of my skin is numb, but if I were to pinch it I would feel it. Does that make more sense?
doreyrae 20 Posted February 21, 2013 I understand. I had a Hysterectomy in 2007 and was cut from hip to hip. That feeling is still there and feels numb when I go to scratch it. I can feel clothes but its a weird feeling to describe, but I know what you mean.
my3kids4life 22 Posted February 21, 2013 OMG, I can relate to exactly what you are talking about. I have had three C-sections. I experienced the numbness at the lower bottom of my tummy for years before it felt normal again. I haven't had my VSG surgery yet, but thanks for the heads up. katikati 127 Posted February 21, 2013 I have a small numb area too! It's around the center of my stomach, just to the left of where my drain was. I really hate the way it feels/doesn't feel too. Thankfully, I've noticed the last few days that it's not as numb, so I'm hoping that means it will be completely back to normal soon. I thought maybe it had something to do with the drain, but I guess it's just part of surgery. I'm two weeks post-op, by the way.
Groovinchikin 49 Posted February 22, 2013 Same here. I'm two months out and it's still numb. My surgeon said it's normal and that it could go away in a few months, or it may never go away. It all depends on how your nerves heal themselves after being severed during surgery. It's such a strange feeling, I can only hope I'll be one of the lucky ones!
