Geminidrive 389 Posted February 21, 2013 If it has carbonation, I would avoid it.
Threetimesacharm 1,400 Posted February 21, 2013 That's right it is carbonated and sleevers should not have carbonated beverages.< /p>
Ms.AntiBand 2,984 Posted February 21, 2013 http://www.livestrong.com/article/313171-health-risks-of-carbonated-water/ I never drink carbonation because my Mom always said it will age the skin via robbery. No clue if that's true, but I have never looked my age so I like to believe that's why
mark! 449 Posted February 21, 2013 I've read that it can create a better environment for stretching the sleeve, and create some sort of "combustion" inside the pouch and cause a rupture. Not sure, but that'd be enough for me to say no go.
FeeIsMe2 508 Posted February 21, 2013 I was told carbonation is a no-no!

Fiddleman 4,376 Posted February 21, 2013 In addition to the reasons above, diet soda is also a gateway food for some individuals. It might lead to eating or drinking other foods that are not really good for a Sleever.
Webchickadee 716 Posted February 21, 2013 If it's available in your area, you could try some Water additives such as Mio. They are zero calories, often sweetened with sucralose (not aspartame) and come in a variety of flavours. It's a liquid additive that allows you to control the amount of flavour you want and no messy clean-up with pouches to throw out or powders to dissolve. It's a life-saver for my husband and I! We have tried more than 10 flavours of Mio (there are only 4 flavours available here in Canada, but I've gone cross-border shopping to get the other 6 we've tried!). We carry them with us at all times (in our coats, my purse, the car, etc.) so we can make tap Water or bottled water a restaurant more interesting. He's drinking 5x more water than he ever did before, and I have no desire for diet pop! You might want to try it out!
mom2five 292 Posted February 21, 2013 My sister in law, who is over a year out from VSG now, accidentally bought a sparkling water.. she didn't look at the label... she took one drink and was in pain... so I'm steering clear of carbonation!
FishingNurse 1,211 Posted February 21, 2013 I drink 2-3 sparking waters per day. Everyday! I'm 18 months out. This has NOT stretched my sleeve or had any ill effects. I started drinking it around the 5 month mark again. I made my weight loss goal at 8.5 months and maintained within 5 pounds for almost a year now. I strongly believe the carbonation is not going to strech anyone's sleeve, and my surgeon agrees. I don't drink it with meals, I sip on it between meals. PhatGurl80 26 Posted February 22, 2013 I don't think it has any adverse affects other thanw gas. I avoid carbonation because my tummy just can't handle it. Too uncomfortable and I'm just about 18 months out. I think you can just judge it by how it makes you feel.
