I did a search for this type of topic because I know I've read something here before on skipping a size in clothing, but my search didn't show any results.

I've thought...surely not. There is no way that you can skip a size in clothing. That makes no sense at all.

I would not have believed it if it hadn't happend to me.

After several months of fairly decent weight loss I was down about 54 lbs, then I hit a long stall. For about 6 weeks my weight would go up and down 1-2 lbs over and over again. It was slightly frustrating, but nothing to cry about. I tried a few things but nothing worked. Then I read a post about D3 and Calcium, so I started taking 6000 IUs a day two weeks ago. Out of nowhere the scale started moving again and my clothes started fitting slightly looser. I was down to about 6 pairs of dress pants that fit tight and I couldn't wear yet and one pair of Gap jeans I picked up at Goodwill for $4.

Last night I was rearranging my closet and tried on all 6 pair of pants. Only one fits. The rest had to go. They weren't just loose, they were silly looking. I could pull them off without unbuttoning them. The $4 jeans just hang off of my hiney now.

This is just weird. I'm not really sure what happened...... if taking D3/Calcium did something to get things moving again or if my body just had some crazy metamorphosis overnight. Whichever, 40 lbs from goal I am going to have to buy some pants. Yeah, that is kinda good news, but I hate wasting money. Suppose it will be back to Goodwill this afternoon.

Skipping a whole clothing size is entirely possible.

It happened to me, too. Naturally, it happened in a size that I had purchased ahead of time, so I wound up giving away never worn clothes when I flew past. I skipped the 12s entirely and only spent a few weeks in 9/10s...I pretty much went from a 14 to an 8 even without losing a significant amount of weight between sizes.

It's one reason I always caution people against buying clothing ahead of time based upon where they think they'll be size-wise.

Could be coz there is about an inch from size to size the smaller you get ;) I go by American eagles size chart they have the most standardized for us sizes.

Wast/Hips

34/44 size 16

33/42 size 14

31/41. size 12

30/39 size 10

28/38 size 8

27/37. size 6

when I was bigger, I lost 40 pounds and didnt lose a jean size mostly due to where I lost ( up top body looked like it belonged to someone else) .... I stayed in size 20 up to about 50 pound lost... then skipped 18 ( was pissed because like others, I purchased a pairm albeit on clearance) that went to waste... I stayed in 16's for about 20 pounds

it seems when we get to about size 14, or even 12, it takes much less weightloss to get to a smaller size....and a LOT depends of body composition

yesterday I purchased 2 pairs of size 12 jeans from my Goodwill....one wit tags still on them...I am 190 pounds at somewhere between 5'7" and 5'8"....
