Hi all!!

I just wanted some ideas on what Vitamins to take. My first month after banding , I was on flinstone chewables 2 aday. Then I thought that I would move on to some "grown up" Vitamins and tried liquid Centrum. It is horrible to me. I then tried chewable Centrum, but it is chalky and I gag on it at times. I would love to be able to go back to the Flinstones, but am not sure if it is providing me with all that an adult needs.

I'd like to get a survey of what vitamins work for you all.

Your input is greatly appreciated,

Hello,

I don't know if I can really help you. I haven't had a fill yet (don't need one yet) and can take my normal giant Vitamins pretty easily. I can kind of feel it going down and it doesn't seem to get stuck. I know you are supposed to take Vitamins at a time of the day that you aren't going to be drinking a lot of fluids. For me that is at bedtime, I figure they can sit in my system all night. I follow my nutrician and Vitamin intake on fitday and can tell I don't get all my vitamins from food so I take them to help supplement. I would stick with the flintstones if I were you. Maybe take a couple of more??? I don't know, best wishes, Teresa

I could be totally off, but after my surgery I remember comparing the chewable flintstones (well, actually, the Target version =) to say, my big GNC horse pills, and I didn't find very many differences. The only thing I would worry about with taking more is getting too much Iron. I don't know if it's a problem for adults, but I know it's not good for kids to take more than the reccommended amount of Vitamins for that reason.

The "One source" Brand has a chewable children's Vitamin that has the adult dosage and information printed on it. It also has minerals. My children's doc says it is the best she has ever seen for them and our doc here says PERFECT!!!

It is also cheap (3.99 - on salefor 120 tablets & adults only need to take one) And it doesn't taste bad either.

I did a comparison of all the chewable ones it had by far the best amounts. It only required more folic acid if you are in child bearing age. My doc even said would work if we got pregnant after band with a few small additions (iron/foic & of course calcium)

I also am using the caltrate 600 +D chewables (I wait till on sale and stock up)

Jane, thanks for the tip! I've been taking my regular tablets (a multi, plus more C and E) just normally until recently. This last fill was the one that made it impossible for me to take these tablets the way I had been.

I've been looking for a good chewable and now I know where to look. Thanks!!

Oh, and let me plug the Viactiv chews as well. They are YUMMY!! Calcium was impossible for me to take so now I'm fixed. :)

One Source- Active Kids chewable complete (19 Vitamins & Minerals)

1 buy th 120 tablets because of three kids (they get 1/2 tablet till age 4)

it has in %

Vitamin A 100%

Vitamin C 167%

Vitamin D 100% (*** this is the only one that concerns me- a fat soluable and it is also in all our Calcium -or can't be absorbded and in some types milk & yogurt and too much is bad for a pregnant woman's fetus) I need to do more research but all I found have this much

Vitamin E 100%

Vitamin K 13%

Thiamin 107%

Riboflavin 118%

Niacin 100%

B6 113%

B12 133% (Something I am told all weight loss people need)

Biotin 15%

Panthanoic Acid 100%

Calcium 12% (still will require calcium supplement but all Vitamins have low calcium- calcium in what ever form it is used in supplement is a huge molecule and that is why the pill is so large) Also 600 mg is all that can be absorbed at one time (sometimes I thik it is lower)

Iron 100%

Posphorous 5%

Magnesium 6% (this should be with the calcium supplement too or it can't be absorbed as well - hence not all antacids work for calcium supplements)

zinc 100%

Copper 100%

Manganese 50% (rest should come in with a goog calcium supplement too)

CHromium 17%

Molybedium 27%

Sodium <1%

Total carbs <1g

and they don't tast too bad.

They are not a generic store brand so if you are priveldged not to have Walmart driving all local stores out of busness (but I can't help but go there- I need the prices with kids & self pay and all) the might carry at CVS or other store. But our pediatrition says it the best she has ever seen for a chidlrens chewable (and those are the adult dosage %on the back of the jar)

My kids think they taste great. I don't think they are horrible- have a little aftertaste of nutrasweet (to much if you want my opinion) but they are officially designed for munchkins

I also don't think they taste bad

I was just wondering if anyone has started taking Fiber supplements, or even a drink like Metamucil. It seems like Protein is the nutritional priority at meals, with, um, "roughage" a distant second, so I was wondering if anyone had any problems with this.

My gastrologist recommends Benefiber. It's the only one that doesn't clump up inside you. It's a powder that you can sprinkle on foods or mix into your drink. It's tasteless.

I looked at the labels...two children's chewables (like Flintstone's but from trader Joe's) containted what my adult multi contained, except for the Calcium.

NOW, somebody remind me...THERE IS A REASON WE ARE SUPPOSED TO GO FOR THE Vitamins WITHOUT Iron...I think... Does anyone remember the reason? (I hate to throw out the ones I bought WITH Iron unless I can remember WHY they aren't a good idea.)

Sue I've been killing myself trying to find chewable Multivitamins WITH Iron - please, does anyone know if we shouldn't be taking iron?

I normally take Haliborange chewable tablets - Multivitamin with iron and calcium.....but recently started having Berocca - it disolves in a glass of Water and is concentrated B vits, Vit C and Zinc - I find it brilliant for energy and stress relief..... They are available in the US for about $15 I believe....

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
