BeccaDawn 36 Posted February 21, 2013 Anyone else grossed out by certain foods? It feels like a hassle to eat right now and nothing sounds good! I have done well so far with no complications and have lost 29 lbs! I'm one lb away from ONEDERLAND! So I'm not meaning to complain but I feel like I did when I was pregnant. I can't even stand the smell of food! Did anyone else go through this? What got you through it? The only way I am getting in my Protein is to add a premier vanilla into my hot tea and coffee. And I'm definitely NOT pregnant btw.... Thanks for any advice anyone can give! It sucks since I should be moving onto regular food soon and can't stand to look at it or smell it! kristikay 60 Posted February 21, 2013 I just said that to my husband last night, I feel like I did when I was pregnant. I will think something tastes great, eat it three days in a row and then it totally grosses me out. I really don't have any advice but will be looking for any advice that is posted. Pelekania 156 Posted February 21, 2013 I have not had any reactions to any foods I have tried yet. I do eat pretty slow and wait before taking another bite. Also, because I read so many posts with people not being able to tolerate eggs, I bout egg beaters and make them soft.
TheGamer 406 Posted February 21, 2013 It comes and goes, honestly. My stomach is definitely more sensitive than it was before surgery, where I ATE ALL THE THINGS! Now, my eating habits are pretty pedestrian. I keep to a diet that's based on deli meat, dairy like cheese, yogurt, and cottage cheese, greens and the occasional bit of fruit. I'll deviate from that occasionally, but really my diet's pretty plain these days. Since it's just me, with nobody to eat my leftovers, I don't really care to cook because it'd go to waste by the time I could get around to eating it. I eat what agrees with me and don't really worry about it. It's kind of a nice change from inhaling everything in sight.
johnlatte 1,232 Posted February 21, 2013 Agree with gamer, there are days that I really just don't want to eat anything at all. eggs have been the only thing that has remotely made me nauseous. My nutritionist doesn't seem to know why. But, that's what I had for Breakfast this AM and it was fine. Try a little sugar free Torani Syrup in your premiers. I love the sugar free caramel and sugar free english toffee.
djsacco 32 Posted February 21, 2013 Yes! I am also 5 weeks post op! Certain foods that I loved before I can't stand the smell of. I love eggs and have tried them several times and just can't eat them! Soup! Oh my geez the smell of Soup gags me!
Sassygirl06 962 Posted February 21, 2013 It takes a little while for some of us, others are lucky. I would get sick at the slightest thing....and don't get me started on the slimes! I had major buyers remorse for about the first 3 months...and then wasn't happy but wasn't mad for the next three months. Finally about 6 months out I began feeling great about the sleeve. I can eat anything I want now, except if I try to eat a lot of sweets it makes me queazy, but I consider that a good thing! Lol
lilbearzmom 584 Posted February 21, 2013 Yes, there are things I ate before surgery that are WLS friendly that I may never eat again, like lunch meat. Don't know why that is. I can tolerate pretty much anything at 9 weeks out, and eating has become less of a chore and I find myself enjoying food again little by little. The only thing that makes me nauseated is when I eat too fast. This has happened to me 3 times. You'd think I would learn, but I am so impatient. Gotta work on that. Sounds like you're doing fab! -Kendra
mommyradd 115 Posted February 21, 2013 I'm 12 weeks out, but I was feeling just like you at 6 weeks out. I posted here and everyone told me it was a phase and that it would pass. It took about a month, but it did pass. Just do your best to get in all your Protein and fluids, that's what I did. I didn't want my weight loss to stall just because nothing looked good enough to eat. Good luck!
purplemoonflower123 5 Posted April 8, 2013 I attempted to try eggs again today and they came right back. I think I'm done with them for awhile. I loved eggs pre-op but now, my sleeve can't take them.
