From OTR ( one of the mods) he reply to my questions about pdcaaas there:

"Sounds like a misunderstanding of the PDCAAS scoring model. The PDCAAS doesn't go from 1-100, it from 0.00-1.00. Looking at the ingredients of a premier shake, it is all milk based Proteins which score 1.0- the best score available.

I typically say that premier is a "good alternative" if you cannot tolerate pure whey Protein isolate or I'd you need the convenience.

The downside to Premier shakes is that they are mostly milk based rather than whey. Meaning they do contain much of the impurities found in milk and are not a good option for the lactose intolerant. Keep in mind that immediately after surgery we are much more likely to develop a lactose intolerance. Therefore I recommend them as a convenience but not as a regular "go to" Protein source.". OTR

Has anyone heard of "Body by Vi" or "visalus" Protein Powder?

thanks kapoovilla for clearing that up.

Body by Vi and visalus Protein powders are soy.

here is a link for a comparison between whey and soy Protein powders and the pdcaaas scores. hope this is helpful.

I drink unjury and premiere Protein. I mix it up a bit between the 2. I love the unflavoured Protein from UNjury! I make my SF cheese cake pudding with it!

I still struggle to get all my protein in daily. But I am trying!

Thanks for all the input. I have such a hard timw with the shakes they make me sick to the stomach. I add the unflavored powder to everything but one teaspoon or tablespoon isnt that much Protein. I am hoping now that i start the pureed phase it will be easier.

That's a lot of carbs and calories for few Protein grams

U must be a carb angel! 2-4g of carb for 15-17 Protein doesn't seem bad to me as a supplement, not a Meal Replacement. I get 80-100g protein daily and half of that in carbs daily.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
