Perth is the capital of Western Australia. I'm in Sydney, so no help for you at the moment, but I'm actually looking into moving to Albany sometime this year.

There is a couple users from wa I think

One is Kazza wa, I think another is Seth, you might try looking through the other Aussie threads and by reading you can mostly work out where they are from. Then just private message and invite them to chat in your thread :-)

Hi Sunette

Yes so far so good, op went ok. I am stil on the liquid but transitioning to the soft fod stage which hasn't been too good but I am taking the gret advice from this site & now am starting to recoginze the signs but I will get it all eventually. The great thing is have lost 10 k since surgery. It's a huge learning experience, went to the shops with my friend today, I ordered a smoothie & looked at all the food & sort of wished I could have some but was not even hungry, I then went to check out all the lovely clothes I will be able to buy soon........yeah !!!

Have you had your op yet ? I am a newbie too but we can help & support each other if you want. I am in Jane Brook, where are you?

Hi Sunette,

I am 10 days away from surgery and having it done by Dr Yong at Joondalup Hospital. I'm just hoping the nurses strike doesn't put the op back!!!!!

Are you done/being done??? Happy to help in any way. I am half way through Optifast preparation pre-surgery and doing quite well.

Liz

Hi no I am very very new. Haven't even seen the surgeon yet. Will see him next week. Hopefully I won't have to wait to long for surgery date. Good luck to those that is having your op done in the next few days. I hope it will all go well and I soooo envy you. If your op is scheduled to be in the public sector you might be affected by the nurses striking at the moment. The private hospitals are not striking so all good there. Please keep on telling me/ us how you are going.

Hello I just joined here today but I'm a perthite being sleeved on the 16th of April by the fabulous dr Alan Thomas at SJOG.

Who are you going to see?

There is also a secret Sleevers group on Facebook and we have a perth meet up in a few weeks if you'd like to come along and meet others on the journey :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
