is pasta really that bad for you, when you can only eat 2oz ?

This is kind of a conglomeration of the different versions I found around the internet. It tweaked it to my liking.

Low Carb Ricotta Bake

80z ricotta cheese (I used the part skim)

1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese

1 large egg, beaten

Italian seasoning to taste (I used 1 tsp)

salt and pepper to taste

1/2 cup favorite Pasta or pizza sauce (I use the generic whatever as I am not picky)

1 cups shredded mozzarella (more if you really like cheese)

Hormel Turkey pepperoni slices

Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Lightly grease (Pam is fine) 1 regular muffin tin. Can also be made as a casserole. I prefer the muffin tins because each one is a serving for me.

Mix Ricotta, parmesan, beaten egg and spices in bowl.

Divide mixture evenly into the muffin tin Mine made 6. I wouldn't use over tablespoons mixture in each cup

Spoon 1 tablespoon or so of the pizza sauce over each portion and sprinkle with the cheese.

I put 1 pepperoni on each cup and then cover with mozzarella and maybe some shredded Parmesan to taste.

Bake at 450 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes.

I love my Pasta, my fiancé is Italian and a cook, so it is a staple for us. But, he is also a nutritionist, so it is always whole wheat Pasta for us, served with something super healthy.

I wasn't trying to imply people should never eat Pasta again' date=' sorry if it came off that way. Since the original poster is only 2 months post op it is probably a little early for regular starchy Pasta in my opinion, but maybe i'm wrong about when the stomach is healed enough to take that chance.[/quote']

Totally agree Richard

We agree basically :) I meant that most can't have it until at least three months out so when it's allowed...it shouldn't be a problem. Earlier than that is a risk to healing due to the swelling as you stated. (under three weeks?????? not a good idea!)

My Nut wants me eating Pasta and rice, brown of course, they are great complex carbs. I see nothing wrong with it. My sleeve has tolerated everything.

But at what point did your nut have you start eating it. Most of us on here aren't saying there is anything wrong with pasta in the long run, and wether to eat carbs or not is a decision that needs to be made based on the individual. But eating pasta should not be rushed into until your stomach is healed enough for it.

I use dreamfield Pasta it is low carb. taste like regular Pasta. It says on box only like 5 gram carbs or something close to that. I do know it doesnt run my blood sugar up like regular pasta does. So it must be very low carb.

Where do you get that at?

Pasta is not on my drs diet plan post sleeve. It's basically lean Proteins, veggies and occasional fruit.< /p>

Now I try and follow that but I am human and sometimes you just have to have something else hehe

I try to aim for just a basic well balanced diet.

Everyone has to do what works for them.

Lots of success stories on lots of different nutritional guidelines.

Just be healthy and happy :)

I'm Italian. Pasta was my vice pre op. I ate it at least 3 times a week, any way you can imagine. Post op I've made it once. I switched to whole wheat Pasta about 7 years ago and now I don't even miss the other stuff, so if you DO indulge in pasta I suggest whole wheat. I've been lucky enough to tolerate everything I've eaten, even rice and pasta, but it does fill me up way faster. I say indulge on occasion, try whole wheat and be smart about it. Eat high Protein low carb all day on a day where you splurge on pasta for dinner and enjoy. :)

I agree with Iggy, I didn't have surgery so I could never eat these things again. I know a lot of people stay away from these things in the WL stage, but for me- someone who had a very high starting weight- my WL stage is going to be much much longer then someone who had a small amount to lose and I just am not willing to put my life on hold until then.

So indulge once in a while and be smart about your choices and you should be fine :)

I have whole wheat pasta once and I was 4 post. I did not imply in my post that it should be rushed. I answered the part of the question is there anything wrong with it. The poster did not indicate how far post op she is. Why does everything on this forum have to turn into a debate? You answered your way I answered my way.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
