jdoll 0 Posted February 21, 2013 I always tan 2x per week to keep my eczema under control...just wondering if anyone knows when it might be safe to start again. I'm 9 days post-op
FeeIsMe2 508 Posted February 21, 2013 I would check with my doctor.
FishingNurse 1,211 Posted February 21, 2013 Sure just wait until you're mostly healed up from the outside to avoid infection. (3-4 weeks) and you could just wear a cami or something over your incisions for a few months.
Heather86 :o) 29 Posted February 21, 2013 I didn't think to ask my Dr about it... I started tanning again after 2 months post-op. I have an appointment tomorrow, hopefully I think to ask him, just to make sure.
moregoodtimes 331 Posted February 21, 2013 My paperwork says do not expose incisions to sunlight.
MrsG 329 Posted February 21, 2013 It's funny I just went to my 1 month post op class tonight and they brought this up. I've already layed out twice since surgery...oops. They said tonight to wait a year because it makes your scars darker. I thought the sun would make them heal faster. I live in Arizona so it was warm enough to lay out a few weeks ago. rbott 37 Posted February 21, 2013 This topic came up last night when I went to a support group. They said that you should wait several months because it can make your scars darker. If you keep them covered I would assume all would be fine. I am almost 3 weeks post op and I plan on starting to go to the tanning bed in about another 2 weeks, but I will be covering my abdomen.
