*disclaimer- please withhold negative opinions, looking for advice, not judgement*. That being said, I'm 10 months out, down 115 lbs and looking to get knocked up. Based on having a gastric sleeve, those of you who are prego, are you considered to be high risk based on the surgery by your MD?

hi there - so you want to get "knocked up"?? haven't heard that expression since i went to high school with the dinasours!!

there is a board for "preggos", people wanting to get pregnant - and people that are already pregnant

all docs say different things - some people on our board get pregnant without meaning to

"some" docs say you should wait up to 2 years post up before you get pregnant

check with your doc concerning high risk et al - might vary for each person, but i "think" for the most part people get pregnant and are not considered high risk

but you will find the more specific answer from someone in the better "know"

gotta comment on your "disclaimer"

its sad, :( but i understand why you wrote it (the disclaimer)

other people are writing similar things "disclaimers" because they understanably don't want/need to hear any harsh comments

people have left the board because instead of getting support, they got some harsh reality from "well meaning sleevers

I think more and more people have become aware of and successfully are "curbing" their comments

now giving support, with well thought out words of wisdom and help, advice, support -

this is what we've all wanted, and needed from this board

wish you well

big congrats on loosing 115 lbs :)

WooHoo

wishing you well on bringing a new angel into the world :)

I am 18 months and and find myself pregnant and I was NOT trying! (I think we all turn super fertile after major weight loss) I think at 10 months out you are getting to a place where you can start to get pregnant and start nourish a baby. Ideal, probably not... High risk? probably not.. a little extra monitoring? yes, but that's ok! Good luck!

I was 10 mo post op when I got pregnant. Doc said not high risk, but needed to make extra effort to get in nutrient rich diet so that I wouldn't become depleted... Baby takes what it needs from mom. Congrats! My baby is happy and healthy 3 week old:)

The surgery alone doesn't make us high risk. Other factors that might not have resolved with weight loss surgery (high blood pressure, diabetes, etc.) can get you classified that way but if you're not of "advanced maternal age" and are in generally good health you'll be treated like a regular pregnancy patient.

Which for me, was a bit upsetting. After a set of twins complete with bi-weekly visits and ultrasounds, I was a bit discouraged to only be seen once a month and get "just" one ultrasound. :) Such is life with a normal, single pregnancy!

Before being sleeved I asked my surgeon about this and he said he doesn't recommend women get pregnant until maintenance, the pregnancy can be healthy if monitored. They just don't recommend it because we get the surgery to lose weight. But he gave me the winky eye as to say don't worry, if you get pregnant a year after we will monitor you to be healthy. I have no co-morbidities. I think you'll be safe if you're healthy overall. Congratulations! I still have to wait a while but I have baby fever. Everyday is a reminder to stay focused. Can you keep up posted on your progress? Are you losing or gaining weight? I wondered if the sleeve makes you feel MORE nausea since the stomach is more sensitive. Oh just the thought of more nausea I can't handle. Hope you're doing well.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
