What are you currently reading?

I am a self confessed bibliophile. I love books, I love the smell of them, the look of them, the weight of them in my hands.

Like Thomas Jefferson says. "I cannot live without Books."

I am also an unashamed, unembarassed romance junkie. So the bulk of my reading tends to be romance novels/fiction. But that is far from my total consumption. I can't find a new website without sharing my passion.

I am a pretty fast reader, and I read alot.

I like to share, compare and find new reads and authors.

So...what are you reading????

A few of the books I've read in the past month.

Valley of Silence... Nora Roberts

Match Me If You Can ...Susan Elizabeth Phillips

Eat & Stay Thin... Joyce Meyer

Light My Fire... Katie MacAlister

Lap-Band for Life... Ariel Ortiz Lagardere

Firestorm... Rachel Caine

Happily banded...happy reader.

I love Nora Roberts.

I also love to read but I got away from fiction this year and decided that I would read as much personal develpment that I can get my hands on. Here are a few great one!

Think and Grow Rich.. Napolean Hill

The Cash Flow Quadrant..Roberty Kiyosaki

Rich Women...Kim Kiyosaki

How to Win Friends and Influence People...Covey

The magic of thinking Big..david j. Schwartz

Those are some of the great ones I've read recently.

there just something about bettering yourself, to become who you were meant to be. To find your passion. I'm in love with creating myself now.

In the last month to month and a half I've read...

Harry Potter 5 & 6

Gotrek and Felix: Dragonslayer Willam King

Gotrek and Felix: Beastslayer Willam King

Gotrek and Felix: Vampireslayer Willam King(hey I love em!)

The Bad Popes by E. R. Chamberlin

Xenocide by Orson Scott Card

A Feast for Crows by George R.R. Martin

The best out of all of them is George R.R. Martin who is todays Tolkin, but better. It's not your elfs and magic adventure fantasy, but to quote a review, "It's men and women slugging it out in the muck for money and power and lust and love."

I read the George R.R. Martin trilogy recently, and it was indeed very entertaining. I'm a HUGE Tolkien fan so it really spoke to my sensibility. It fell short in clarity, though; for my taste there was complexity upon complexity for no reward. After a while I just stopped caring about new characters because I didn't know who anyone was anymore. All in all, though, it was fun.

I just finished a really intriguing novel called The Girls. It's a fictional autobiography written by a set of conjoined twins. Excellent!

Now I'm on to the two most recent Elizabeth George books. She's about my favorite mystery writer going.

I too read a lot!!! I read different things, and it is not unusual for me to have 2 or more books going at once. In fact I always have one left in the car, so when I am stuck, I have my book!!

I have a few authors I read as they put their new books out...well actually I wait til they hit paperback, so I can take them with me easier. I read all of Jonathon Kellerman, I especially like his Alex Delaware series. I also read all of Janet Evanovich, and feel the same with the Stephanie Plum series. I read a lot of Anne Rule, Nora Roberts, Susan Wiggs, Stephen White, Lee Childs.....I could go on, and on and on!!! My reading time has been diminished with my new found energy, and I spend time on here....but I can now read as I walk on the treadmill!!!

I am anxiously awaiting a box of books from Penni---wooohooo an early Christmas present!!!

Kat

I love to read and collect books, at last count we have over 1000 books. I read mysteries and my husband reads non-fiction. We go to all the library used book sales and sometimes bring home as many as ten bags of books which I share with friends and family.

I also love to read. I currently am reading Sanda Brown's alibi. Occasionally I will buy hardcovers but like the softbacks better. I can't wait for the next Harry Potter. I also love Nora Roberts, Fern Micheals and Stephen King.

Fern Micheals has a series out called the Sisterhood. It is about a group of vigilante ladies, there are 7 of them in the group. They have had bad things happen to them in life and the law didn't help so they took matters into their own hands. Here is a list of the ones that are out so far:

1. Weekend Warriors (2003)

2. Payback (2004)

3. Vendetta (2005)

4. The Jury (2005)

5. Sweet Revenge (2006)

I also have my 7yr old reading at least 30 min everynight. Of course my husband makes fun of it but I think it is a good thing.

I always carry a book with me everywhere in my purse. I also keep one in the glove compartment of my car. Right now I'm reading The Princes if Ireland by Edward Rutherfurd. It is historical fiction. His books always start way back near the end of the ice age and go forward almost to the present day. Really fascinating.

The last 5 books I've read are:

Lord John Grey & the Private Matter Diana Gabaldon

Princess in Pink Meg Cabot

Ella Enchanted Gail Carson Levine

Cell Stephen King

The Last Unicorn Peter S. Beagle

I'm an elementary teacher so I tend to read a lot of "juvenile" books for possible inclusion in my class library. I also work part-time at a library which is great.

My favorite authors are (in no particular order): J.K. Rowling, Robert Heinlein, & Diana Gabaldon.

I read all sorts of stuff. I'm reading a series called Dhampir, who's authors I can never remember, but it's a husband and wife couple. I like the Anita Blake books by Laurel K. Hamliton. I'm currently reading the 3rd book in the Dragonriders of Pern series (my mom bought me a compliation of the first 3 books when she found out I hadn't read them). I started the Xanth series by Piers Anthony a long time ago and never finished it, so I've bought the first view to start when I get through the Pern books. I love the Alex Delaware series as well. There's also a number of Terry Brooks books I have read, and a number I haven't that I want to.

When I was a kid, I'd stay up late with my reading lamp on and read until 2 or 3 in the morning. If mom and dad were out late, and they came home, they could see that my window was on. I guess my dad used to get mad, but my mom just said "She's reading, what's the matter?"

I don't have as much reading time as I'd like (mostly because I don't MAKE it), but when I do, I pour through stuff when I do.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
