SoCalDixieGal 172 Posted March 2, 2013 I only had my surgery back on 2/11/13 so I'm still new but it's night and day experiences! I started band at 252, started the sleeve journey at 229. Lost 10 lbs on preop diet which was hard! So went in at 219. Today I'm at 208. Little slower than others but I'm thrilled with 11 lbs in about 18 days! Huge difference was with the band I was hungry in just a matter of days but was on a strict healing diet. Same diet now basically (phases last longer) but I'm not hungry at all. I totally lucked out in that I've not even had cravings or head hunger. Only now getting some cravings but more gnat like. I'm really amazed by that.
CowgirlJane 14,260 Posted March 2, 2013 I would not wish the crapband on anyone! 10 year survivor of that torture device. Never did well, beat my self esteem to the ground, and caused pain. I am at goal - lost 150# after revision to sleeve.
Kristina J. 581 Posted March 2, 2013 Add me to the list of band survivors that would urge you to just say no!!! Lol I too am revising. My date is set for May 11th. I have actually had TWO bands because of major complications with my first band. Now after complications with my 2nd I am finally revising to the sleeve. It has been 10 long years. I am counting the days until this thing is out of me!!! Best of luck whichever you choose, but I would definitely say the sleeve is a better choice in my experience. Check out the complication and success boards on both Vertical Sleeve Talk and Lap Band Talk... That should be more than enough to make up your mind. There are risks with both surgeries of course but there are FAR more long term risks with the band and much more long term success with the sleeve!
