No it's for my husband. He has some issues in life and has been down so he's only really big wish is to have a dog. And mind you it's a tiny little guy that we want to adopt. But she's kind of freaking out and saying that we r going to leave it and have her take care of it.

I just adopted one after my first died the week before Christmas. I learned that 99% of the time if someone has their mind made up it's kind of hard to change it. See if you can just let her know that you want her to be involved but you're asking her to trust that you're making the best decision and you're doing what's right for the two of you and just ask her to be supportive of that. She might come around you never know.

Get a cat. The meat isn't as stringy and they are great rotisserie style.

P.S. I also hear they have more Protein per pound than dogs.

2nd best weight loss tool is my boxer dog x border collie puppy that would dig a hole big enough for my house to subside into if I don't take her for a 2 mile walk each day.

Am I missing something (ie; do you live with your MIL?) If you and your husband both want a dog, why would you let her opinion dissuade you? I don't think someone should get a dog on a whim, but it sounds like you've thought about it and it might be really good for your husband. That whole unconditional love thing from dogs is kind of hard to beat as a mood-lifter.

Gotcha, that does make it harder. The puppy sounds so cute. Be careful not to fall in love.

I like the idea of it being a bit older... It's not as much work. I bought my dog at 7 months and she was already potty trained and that helps a lot!!

The only other thing to ask the adoption place is about any issues the dog might have.

Oh and those dog adoptions!! Hahaha..

I think it might be easier to adopt a kid!!

We went to a couple of those and oh my!!

They made me feel like a criminal with ill

Intent :P

We bought our dog on the black market!

Go for it! We just adopted a little Papillon 3 weeks ago. We love taking her for walks and playing with her.

Have you thought of a name?

I say if you want it go for it. And I agree adopting a dog at pet smart... It's easier to get a kid. We got denied twice. Then I went to a shelter ;-).

But they are a huge commitment. Do you travel a lot? Work long hours? Able to walk/play with the dog? Some things to think about. And yearly vet visits and food. Things people over look ;-)

I work eight hrs a day so not too bad. Dave's always home so it's ok.

We just got our third dog, a goldendoodle, almost 2 weeks ago. I love dogs so I will never tell anyone not to get one. But they are a lifelong commitment, so you have to be willing to be with him or her for the next 10-15 years.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
