Im not loosing any weight after VSG surgery

Recommended Posts

It's been 16 months since my surgery I have lost 23 pounds ONLY can anyone help me

I'm sure that is very frustrating. Is there a support group you can attend? A nut you can visit with?

Maybe...

Have you spoken to your doctor or nutritionalist about this?

Are you logging your food intake?

Are you trolling?

I believe your final statement from your quoted post was "Are you trolling?" Thus, you did imply the poster was a troll.

The more I think about this, the more it upsets me that I got called out and embarassed. I am the ONLY person that posted on this person's question that tried to help her and I am being scolded.

It may seem like I'm taking this pretty hard but I have refrained from posting after the "people are mean" posts started. I actually posted more today than I have in a long time & trying to contribute to the community. Perhaps it's just poor timing, but I'm retiring from the forums this time.

Thank you for your participation. We're sorry to see you go.

I'd suggest re-reading the entire thread top to bottom.

Let's have a play by play:

  1. sherytuta posts a topic at 9:58 AM this morning titled "Im not loosing any weight after VSG surgery". About 14 minutes after she initially signed up. The post contained the following message:
It's been 16 months since my surgery I have lost 23 pounds ONLY can anyone help me

  2. Two minutes later you respond:
    Maybe...
Have you spoken to your doctor or nutritionalist about this?
Are you logging your food intake?
    Are you trolling?

Instead of feigning indignation, take a little responsibility and maybe apologize to the OP. You set the tone of this entire thread by stating "Are you trolling?"

Put yourself in her shoes for a split second......You feel like you're a failure and finally after ages and ages you've built up the courage to get help. You quickly post a cry for help on VST. You get a response which ends with...."Are you trolling?" WTF?! I almost fell off my chair when I read your response, as well as the two others. Don't claim to help someone and put them down in the same post. Stating something (like Are you trolling?) in a question form doesn't make it any less hurtful either.

My goal wasn't to embarrass you or any other members. My apologies if it appeared this way.

As of late, we've been seeing quite a bit of virtual bullying taking place within our community. I've posted notices, sent out emails and newsletters and have made it very clear that we have a ZERO TOLERANCE for ANY online bullying. We have a very clear terms of service all members agree to upon signup. We will make no exceptions.

I'm going to completely embarrass myself but what does trolling mean? My personal opinion after reading all the posts was someone was asking her legitimate questions and getting open ended answers. Was it tactful? Probably not, but you can kind of tell when someone is playing games and I can see both sides.

A troll is someone who posts just for attention and tries to specifically start an argument.

This whole thread is making me very sad. It's hard to communicate online because tone of voice and body language don't exist. It's hard when it comes to stuff like this.

Here's the Wikipedia definition of (internet) Trolling:

"In Internet slang, a troll (pron.: /ˈtroʊl/, /ˈtrɒl/) is someone who posts inflammatory,[1] extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as a forum, chat room, or blog, with the primary intent of provoking readers into anemotional response[2] or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.[3] The noun troll may also refer to the provocative message itself, as in: "That was an excellent troll you posted."

While the word troll and its associated verb trolling are associated with Internet discourse, media attention in recent years has made such labels subjective, with trolling describing intentionally provocative actions and harassment outside of an online context. For example, mass media has used troll to describe "a person who defaces Internet tribute sites with the aim of causing grief to families."[4][5]"

Members should REPORT posts if they feel they're from trolls. Don't respond or engage them. It'll make everyones life a lot simpler.

There are some people here though, that have had a history of bullying and have been warned..

And have been given many chances.

We've been pretty laise fair over the last year or so and we've decided to take a more active stance on bullying. Please PM me if you'd like to discuss further.

The definition seems to broad. Every post on this forum goes off topic so everybody trolls. It should be narrowed down. At the end of the day I don't run this group. I can only state my opinion, and in my opinion is the entire thing was just blown completely out of proportion.

I think that going off topic is very different from Being a bully and posting rude comments all of the time. As far as this being out blown out portion,

You should take into account that there might be a history with this poster that you are unaware of.

A history with which poster. It's like you're suggesting before responding to a post to read through every message they've ever posted. That's not worth it. The person tried to help, asked good questions. I've been asked for help in life many times when I've responded ill help but don't waste my time if you're not serious. This is clearly a case of that. Would you have preferred the word troll wasn't used? I would agree had the initial response had just been are you trolling? That just isn't the case.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
