Pelekania 156 Posted February 19, 2013 Super excited! I am going to be meeting with a personal trainer later this week to have a fitness assessment done and to map out a plan. I will probably let him know that I had WLS just to he on the safe side and so he will have a better understanding of my needs. Working out always makes me feel good and healthier! I don't have a NUT, so I am not too sure if I should raise my caloric intake and incorporate more complex carbs.
Geminidrive 389 Posted February 19, 2013 Good for you! I'm starting back with my Trainer on Friday's and Sunday’s this week and like you I’m excited. It's going to be tough at the start (My guy loves to push you to the limit) but it will be worth it in the end. Your trainer may also be able to help you on nutrition. Also, I don't know what health insurance you have but my insurance offers an additional program (at no additional cost) to speak with a Nurse, nutritionist and other health care professionals to work with you on all of your health care needs. This might be something your plan may have as well.
Pelekania 156 Posted February 19, 2013 I am going to have to request someone that will push me to the limit as well! I forgot about going through my insurance for nutritional advice. I do have that free option of speaking (I think on the phone) about that. Definitely will check into it. At first I was contemplating getting a personal trainer, but my friend was like you paid so much for the surgery that not investing in a personal trainer would be silly. I wish you much success! Geminidrive 389 Posted February 19, 2013 Let me know how your first session goes. I know I'll need an Epsom salt bath afterwards. Much success to you also!
amykins 202 Posted February 21, 2013 I've been thinking about getting a personal trainer. I'm just scared I'll get a Jillian Micheals-type. She scares me. I need a Bob Harper type. How do I go about choosing one? I go to 24-hour fitness and when I signed up years ago I got 5 free sessions. It seemed like her job was just to push the supplements on me and I didn't see any results so I didn't re-up with her.
Pelekania 156 Posted February 21, 2013 Lol I think I may want a Julian Michaels...lol but you can choose who you want. Just go and talk to someone that works at your gym and advised them that you want a personal trainer. Tell them the type of person you want... If you have free sessions... That's great because they are a little on the expensive side.

Try the 60 minute strength training workout on his Inside out DVD. I can only make it like 20 minutes and am trying to make it further each week. It is hard!!!!! sarsar 824 Posted February 21, 2013 A few years ago I found my personal trainer on CL, I still train with her now. She trains out of her home and is so much more affordable than a personal trainer in a gym. I have also tried a couple of trainers through Groupon or Living Social. That way I only pay a little to see if we are a match. I like to have another trainer that I enjoy working with for times when my trainer is out of town. I am actually taking a personal training class right now. I enjoy it so much that I have decided to become certified so I can help other people reach their goals! Geminidrive 389 Posted February 21, 2013 My trainer is so encouraging, he sends us all motivating messages, here is the message he sent today: "Struggling with being consistent with your workouts...Lost 2 lbs last week, and gained 3lbs back this week...Mental is a little shaken, not stirred..."It's Alright"...Even on our knees we have the ability to stand up once again on our feet and...Keep Moving Forward. If no one said that they care today...I do! Now Go Get Back in the GAME!" Love him!!!

TheNEWME! 121 Posted February 22, 2013 I also LOVE my personal trainer!!! She is the best thing to happen to me. She is encouraging, pushes me when I need it and above all... BELIEVES in me! When all this fat comes off, I want the beautiful toned muscle look to shine through... I'm only 4 months out, and have about 50 more lbs to go to hit goal... but when that time comes I don't want the saggy skin.. I want the toned and defined look. fluffylibra30 323 Posted February 23, 2013 I call my trainer Jillian Jr. She likes to make me carry 50 pound weights around so I don't "forget" my old self. Fun times
