I'm finally getting my drain removed after a week and a day..Now normal life can resume!! I'm petrified of the pain though :(

I got mine taken out in the hospital and it wasn't too bad. The 1 stitch the PA took out before the drain actually stung a little more than the actual drain removal. The drain removal feels weird bc you can feel it snaking through your body a little bit (odd sensation), but the anticipation of having it done is far worse than the actual momentary slight discomfort of the actual removal. Good luck!!!!

It will be totally fine! It will be over in the blink of an eye and then you will be a free woman. :)

I was advised to take a pain pill before my appointment and it did help. It does feel weird when they pulled it out but did not hurt.

No real pain but it I really strange feeling. You'll do just fine. It is a feeling that can't be described. Just has to be experienced. It is awesome not having that thing in there. Good luck.

I was scared myself. However mine was taken out in about 1 minute. It just feels weird coming out of your body. Good luck.

It was a weird feeling. I feel like I flopped like a fish out of Water. By far the weirdest feeling I had in this entire experience. It was over in a few seconds and I had no pain.

There seems to be two types of reactions...one is you feel like you were on a roller coaster and you get that floaty stomach feeling. The second is if the drain is twisted around s bit it burns coming out. I was the second kind and the feeling lasted less than thirty seconds. It takes them all of like four to take the actual drain out. Don't fret!!! I also have a huge adverse reaction to pain but I promise it was not bad at all.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
